So.....he thinks it's ok to refer to his mom as a "Typical white woman"?
All this coming form the most racially bigoted president in our nations history!
OK let me splain it to you. It is not using the word typical that makes a statement racist. It is what you are calling typical that will determine if the statement is racist or not. Would it be racist to say the typical Black person has nappy hair? The statement was that "typical white person who fears seeing Black Americans on the street". He was referring to his grandmother and was absolutely right about that being the trypical reaction of a white woman his grandmothers age at that time. His grandmothers reaction was racist. Discribing that reaction is not.

Swampy, being "angry" is a reaction as much as being "fearful".

No, his exact statement was:

In an interview with sports radio 610 WIP in Philly early this morning, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, said "the point I was making was not that my grandmother harbors any racial animosity. She doesnít. But she is a typical white person, who, if she sees somebody on the street that she doesnít know, well thereís a reaction thatís in our experiences that wonít go away and can sometimes come out in the wrong way. And thatís just the nature of race in our society. We have to break through it."

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2008/03/...

In other words, his grandmother is a "typical WHITE person" and he goes on to justify his statement by inferring that "all" White people react the same way upon seeing someone on the street that they don't know. He didn't mention gender (woman), he didn't mention age (old) and his statement didn't even include a reference to the alleged stranger's race (black). But he did mention the race of the WHITE person.

His grandmother was not a racist, by his own statement. His own interpretation of events is racist.

I think we can leave Barry out of that fantasy. But I am wondering where you got the idea from. Are you into the art work of Namio Harukawa?

I don't agree how first ladies have been dragged into it. I do remember Reagan's wife taking a beating from progressives without five hundred tv channels and no internet and Bush the second's wife taking a beating with five hundred tv channels and an internet. After the enxt election I know when the Repub first lady is known, progressives will be ladies and gentlemen and show respect. there are a few complaints about this one. And that is talking out of the side of her mouth about racism and reality. She needs to keep quiet and realize she is first lady of United States.

Nancy Reagan took a beating? really? Lorah Bush. What did anybody say about her. The Right has been nonstop on Michelle. Her sneakers, her sweater, her butt, what she eats, where she eats, her entire past career, her going to Princeton, etc etc.

That's funny...when I see her visiting the troops, hosting kids parties on the WH lawn, flying to Europe, the Middle East, Africa, India, hosting dignitaries at WH State sponsored dinners, dancing with her hubby, vacationing in Hawaii...she looks REALLY, REALLY happy.

Perhaps it's your angry white men who have the problem?
My money is on you,(jealous, envious) angry beaver.

If you are so fed up with your own mediocrity, go to college,
like Michelle, and improve your life instead of being angry
at everyone who has more ambition and SUCCESS than you.

wealthy and successful whilst all you
can do is post lame, boring hate speech
on topix.

My parents are/were lifetime republicans and the n-word was used a lot in my home but not in public when I was growing up.

Like most racists, my parents are lions in private and cowards in public. I love them but never embraced their ignorant ideology and even to this day, when their friends are visiting them, they still talk about black people like they are scum. Mind you, none of these people went to college so again, I think they are unsatisfied with their lives and simply jealous of successful black people whom they were taught (by their ignorant parents) were stupid and lazy. Clearly the Obamas are neither....so the envy continues.

Try watching a few runs of Hardcore Pawn out of Detroit and you will see these black women in action.I saw one where this black women was whooping her black boyfriend because the jewlery he was trying to pawn was only made of stainless steel and the pawn shop would not give them anything for the bracelet. This man was afraid to go near her.It is a common sight on this show for these women to call other people names and to make a scene when things don't go their way.If these women don't want to be stereotyped then they should try to act like an adult and not like a crazed foul mouthed animal.

Perhaps a bit harsh, but I have seen them in action, have you? If not, I suggest a few minutes on the channel in your area that shows the 'world's dumbest/scariest ___(fillin the blank)'. Sometimes its about dumb criminals, or dumb kids doing tricks on motorcycles, but once in a while, it will show a 'girl fight' in the ghetto, or on a bus, at a bar, or at school, and they are pretty rough, the men step back and cover their genitals, and watch the 'girls' duke it out.
