California is a very varied place. LA is not SF and SF is not LA. It is like two different sensibilities, or even three (or sixteen) really; the Bay Area, LA, and Northern California (rednecks and stuff), then there's also the central valley (not to be confused with LA's "the valley"...San Fernando) around Bakersfield/Fresno, etc...it's got a whole 'nother vibe. Then there's the gold country...<quoted text>
Being an east coast girl, I always thought the same about California. And my brother lived there for decades and HATED it; got out as soon as he could. But then I went to San Fran last summer and LOVED it! It's beautiful the people were friendly and the climate was PERFECT. But it's WAAAAAY too expensive!!!
I'm from the Bay Area, I refuse to live in LA, but I wold consider San Diego. I don't like the valley (either of them) nor will I live out in the desert (like San Bernadino, Palm Springs...) but I do like the central coast around San Luis Obispo but not actually IN SLO because it gets hot. Anything south of Pismo though...it's got an LA vibe.
Yeah, Jersey...I just don't know. I'm still dithering. The humidity in FL would probably kill me too.
