Kevin, a job well done, we need more guys like you that refuse to play games with these ***holes!
I caught a kid tagging my building once. After I chased him down the street, and beat the crap out of him, I took his spray paint, held him down and spray painted his genitals. We haven't had much of a problem with graffiti since then. You may call me crazy. I call it swift justice.

Guy ought to be hung from the nearest tree. There is NO room for behavior like this. They should cut off your hands so you can't do it anymore. Thats the kind of punishments this country needs.

You guys are harsh as heck. It was a young kid doing graffiti. He got caught, and should pay the price. But beating the shit out of him, hanging him, jail for life, felonies? come on..you all act as if you've never done anything illegal and got away with it. all these touch talkers on here too from midwest corn holes that moved here got big opinions but know nothing. go back to the burbs or to michigan.

I think all over even in good neighborhood you are seeing spray painters or "taggers". They lower property value down and damage people hard earned property. They have a task force for everything else, but I bet you they don't have a task force for catching these guys. I think they should be charged, pay a fine and forced to do hours and hours of community service to clean up garbage and paint over their spray paint. I'm starting to get sick of these punks around my neighborhood. What would their mother say if they spray painted their home to "express" themselves?

Does anyone remember the American teenager in the 1990's who was caught breaking car windows in Singapore and was sentenced to caning? It was six strokes on the buttocks with a bamboo cane. I realize this may not satisfy the posters who want to cut his hands off or "beat the crap" out of him or spray paint his entire body, but it would be a punishment he would remember rather than jail time or community service OK maybe six at one time is a little much. How about 3 one month and 3 months probation. More tagging and he gets the next three.

I think an appropriate punishment would be that this adult would have to personally clean off all that could be restored that way, make financial restitution for anything that cleaning wouldn't cover, and then face a certain amount of jail time.

However, half of the jail time could be forgiven if this "artist" allowed some cherished posession of his own to be damaged - his car, say, or his parents' house.

God I love self righteous vigilantes who fantasize incessantly about beating up anyone who wrongs them somehow.

"Ye who is without sin, cast the first stone"

Pathetic. Please stop regaling us all with fanciful stories of your faux crimefighting. It just makes you seem sad and far more immoral than the "criminals" you mercilessly pound on in your fantasies.

The only thing you beat is.....well, I don't want to be censored.

Anyway, you're probably a fat slob anyway. Like you'd be able to catch your average tagger.

Hmm... you must be my neighbor who hides in his window behind the curtains while a woman gets mugged in front of his building because he's too much of a weenie and thinks the best way to deal with it is to turn the other cheek.

No wonder criminals feel so powerful to rule our neighborhoods. Its pansies like you. Probably the same piece of waste that supports the war in Iraq but would flee to Canada if you were ever called to serve your country. You make me vomit.

Sorry All you yuppie scum have something to look while yall go to work. No human being deserves it. These people are not criminals, they are artist that didn't fit the mold of the schools 6th period art class. They had to explore it on their own and this is what you get. There is a lot worst crime in the city. Arrest the drug dealers, the killers, the rapists, the molesters, the domestic abusers. I hate all of your kind that think that incarcerating him is going to make a difference. Its still tax money. Gentrification is the real vandal. High Taxes are the criminals. Running families out of their homes is the crime. But what do yall care. Most of you that comment on this are from the burbs and probably come out to the city on your way to work, or to your weekend field trips to the city to get drunk with your buddies. Some of
these. I hate your kind, and the yuppies that move into the hoods. I hope all of your condos get painted the colors of the rainbow. These people are not criminals and shouldn't be prioritized with such a malicious tag. They are simply rouge artists. Peace.

"Man accused of graffiti-spraying charged with felony"

Now if this was an article about a 19 year-old being shot on the south side it would have been titled "Child shot on south side"

Interesting.

A felony for some paint? Glad to see the justice system has its priorities straight. Now a 19-year-old kid (yes, kid) won't be able to land a job because he got caught tagging. Whatever happened to just making kids clean this crap up after themselves when they get caught? Our court system really has worse crimes to worry about. What's next? Felony charges for skateboard damage to federal property? Ooooh!
EXACTLY! This is ridiculous. A man can rape and get off with a lower bond. Nice to see we prioritize property over people in this city. As for all you people that dont know about graffiti culture why dont you go educate yourselves on a real social issue? Learn the reasons behind the paint and maybe you can see that these KIDS at 19 years old and younger have to make something themselves. Wny? Because they cant depend on the schools to do it. You're all ridiculous talking about "swift justice." I cant believe this can even be called a felony when so many more terrible things are being done around this city. Thanks a lot Chicago.
