One of our VPs was just telling me about boxed wine this morning. He said it's great because of the valve so you don't have to worry about opening a bottle and having it go bad... the valve keeps it fresh. Something to look into.
Other than wine for special occasions, boxed wine is the only wine I drink at home these days. The orange box - Fish Eye -- is great. Sometimes it's on sale for $15 (for 3-4 bottles' worth). I prefer pinot noir, which Fish Eye makes. Black Box is a very good brand as well, but they don't usually have pinot noir for me.

I would recommend them to anyone.

For Nick's mom, I have been buying her four packs of little bottles of pink wine. she loves it.

One of the wine columns, either NYTs or possibly the Wine Spectator 25 under $25 list includes a couple boxed wines. Cost Plus Workld Market usually has good selections that regular stores don't.

It's actually a little more dangerous b/c with a bottle, I know exactly how much I've had without keeping track of glasses. But with the box, I can go back for a refill without thinking I just had a full glass an hour earlier.
