I am not discounting the fact that terrorism is a very real threat. However - does it seem to anyone else that the government and the media are trying to keep us all in a constant state of paranoia? Look at the news every day - "this could happen, that could happen," "You eat this or that, it could kill you," "You do this or that, it's not good for you." And so on. I mean, live your lives, if you see anything suspicious, report it, but if we have to live our lives in a state of constant fear, then the terrorists have won, anyhow.

Much of this I think we all know could be brought to a standstill simply by sealing off our borders (with an armed wall),deport all illegal aliens, not allowing any muslims into the country at all. Period! Seeing as how they despise our culture they really have no business here anyway.

This stuff is trivia to distract Americans from the real threat. A threat created and supported by U.S. government policies and laws.

That largest source of independent terrorist financing as well as the biggest source of disaffection among Americans and Europeans alike is supported by and imposed by the U.S. government. Hundreds of billions in untraceable dollars and hundreds of thousands of people disaffected from society each year and living inside America and Europe. All done with government policies.

SEE: U.S. national security "creating chaos and instability"
http://independentsofamerica.blogspot.com/200...

The Madrid train bombing is the textbook example. Disaffected people meet in prison on drug charges. Back in the community they organize while growing untraceable funds in the drug black market. No one saw their terrorism conspiracy because it was hidden behind their, all too common, drug conspiracy.

"creating chaos and instability"

The 2004 report for congress from the non-partisan Congressional Research Service,'Illicit Drugs and the Terrorist Threat: Causal Links and Implications for Domestic Drug Control Policy' summarized the reality created by prohibition of drugs:

"The international traffic in illicit drugs contributes to terrorist risk through at least five mechanisms: supplying cash, creating chaos and instability, supporting corruption, providing “cover” and sustaining common infrastructures for illicit activity, and competing for law enforcement and intelligence attention. Of these, cash and chaos are likely to be the two most important."

And this is only the tip of the iceberg in terms of the VERY REAL ways that the drug war policy is creating, facilitating and funding terrorism. Both foreign and domestic.

These little made up conspiracies are make work for the FBI. and a distraction from the real threat that is being funded and fostered by U.S. government policy.

Our media is a waste of time. They know and do even less than the Fumbling Bumbling Idiots.

America should be called spaghetti town USA. Because it isn't much different than the notorious "spaghetti code" which makes the operating system Windows so imperfect. You fix one problem and another one pops up in it's place. Typical of American short term solutions to long term problems.

The only homegrown terrorists in America are those of the White House. Don't be stupid. The media is in full charge of the unstable mind of the country. People stay shaken up by the unethical use of propaganda which has become so apparent in the past seven years. More businesses are committing fraud right on television, stealing the trust away from honest consumers. Yet everyone looks around in confusion as to why this is allowed to happen? It is happening because of the undoing and twisting of laws by our present crony style administration that works to fire the good guys and replace them with incompetent crooks. Quality and service in America has gone to the shithouse. Everywhere you look LIES are everywhere. But don't be deceived. Television LIES every second of the day and makes you think that the world is worse than it actually is. Have you noticed lately when you turn on the news you hear about multiple cases of the same type of crime? Like child killing? Many of these crimes do not occur at all. Yet they force you to believe otherwise with their fake, thrown together news casts. Local stations are the butt sniffers for the major networks. They do whatever they are told to do. They are not your friends. They are LIARS. Don't believe me, just look it up. You are better off to throw your TV in the garbage and start a new path to a better life.

But I do agree with getting immigrants out of here. This problem isn't entirely their fault though. This should be treated much like getting your home invaded by children. They belong to the neighbor. The neighbor is a poor parent who neglects their children. Their children come into your home without permission. But they are children. Do you keep them? NO! You give their parent an ultimatuum. But you send their children back home. Now I have to say that there is an underlying issue with the immigration problem. The governments in this country are purposely letting immigration issues get out of hand for one reason. It's to invade Mexico. They want us pissed off to the point of hating Mexico. We are at the stage of resentment. Later it will be hate. Most of THAT will be cultivated by more lies from the media puppets. This is to gain support for another war. Many underground experts have been saying for the past ten years that Republicans and other radicals have been planning to invade MExico. These same people also new about Iraq way before it ever happened. The reason YOU didn't know about it is because you only watch CNN. You poor bastards.

"the largest source of terrorists' income is the illicit drug trade."

Loretta Napoleoni, an expert on terrorist financing, says "the largest source of terrorists' income is the illicit drug trade." April 4, 2006, Council on Foreign Relations Tracking Down Terrorist Financing, Eben Kaplan, Research Associate http://www.cfr.org/publication/10356/tracking...

In America that is a pool of $ 144-billion a year. All untraceable and untaxed because it is money generated in the drug black market. As long as drugs are illegal this national security threat will continue to exist and grow.

Any disaffected two-bit thug who comes to hate America after being locked in one of its drug war over-crowded prisons for a mandatory minimum of anal rape tough love can get whatever money they need to attack America from within. All they need to do is sell some drugs.

The Mexican cartels have been organizing distribution gangs across America. They have millions of dollars available and lots of guns. They are also connected to international smuggling groups that also do business with Afghan opium producers. Their drug smuggling tunnels on the southern border are also free access points into the U.S. for anyone needing to sneak in. The $ 144-billion U.S. retail intoxicant drug market is so lucrative that it will inspire and entice people to find ways across our border no matter how high the walls or what the risks are.

The drug war is making all of this possible. The intoxicant drug black market exist because of the drug war policy.

When you support the drug war you are supporting the funding of terrorism against America and the free world.

The gangsters crossing our border are a problem. So too are the gangsters being bred in our prison system. Prisons are a recruiting center for radical religious ideologies from White Supremacists to Islamic extremists.

America's drug war over-crowded prisons are the biggest source of dissident disaffected attitudes in America. With millions even disenfranchised from our electoral system by criminal convictions they are disengaged from American society, disaffected from our political system, forced into the criminal black market for livelihood and heavily armed as part of that criminal black market.

This is a formula for domestic insurrection with more people involved than the entire U.S. police and military can muster against them.

aahpat: After reading post after post from you, I've come to the conclusion that you are most likely a parolee or someone on house arrest for a drug violation.
All of your posts are similar, if not identical, and all rail against the "war on drugs" and include the same conspiracy theories.
I spent a better part of my morning reading the NYPD report. Whether I agree with its' contents or not, you seem to fit some of the profiles of the "disenfranchised", potential home grown terrorists.
Just my opinion.

You don't even make sense. I am identifying and illuminating a very real potential national security threat and you accuse me of fitting a profile for a threat.

Your reasoning actually proves the fallacy of profiles. You are using the profile to demonize someone who is trying to address the problem. This is all too typical of profiling.

Thanks. I'm glad that someone actually read it in context.

I am reading the report and very little in it conflicts with my assertions. The report describes how people, disaffected by different things but often prison and or drug related were recruited from that base of discontent into the isolation of religious purity of thought. I could not help but notice the similarities with American Christian Identity and White Supremacist teachings and recruiting tactics.

The true irony in the report is that some were taken away from harmless personal drug use into an evangelical isolationist vealotry that led to acceptance of mass murder.

On page 39 of the report is this info box:

PrisonA Radicalizing Cauldron Prisons can play a critical role in both triggering and reinforcing the radicalization process. The prisons isolated environment, ability to create a captive audience atmosphere, its absence of day-to-day distractions, and its large population of disaffected young men, makes it an excellent breeding ground for radicalization. Two of the Madrid bombers--Moroccan Jamal Ahmidan and Algerian Alleka Lamari were either radicalized or more deeply indoctrinated in prison.

Ahmidan, a non-observant Muslim incarcerated for petty crimes, was indoctrinated into radical Islam while in a Moroccan jail over the course of about 2 years. Ahmidan was fascinated by some of the inmates who were veterans of the Afghan jihad. As these jihadists used the prisons--a haven of disaffected men who are ripe for radicalization-- for attracting future recruits, Ahmidan also became fascinated with their radical views.

Ahmidan was released in 2003a man now wholly transformed into a Salafi, ideologically and politically. Upon his return to Spain, Ahmidan not only prayed the required five times a day, but spoke incessantly about jihad and his desire to fight the Americans in Iraq. Although Ahmidan stopped drinking and using drugs following his transformation, he continued to sell drugs to non Muslims.

Allekema Lamari, who had been arrested in 1997 for belonging to an Algerian extremist group, had already been radicalized. However, according to open source, his five year stint in prison nurtured his extremist views and actually intensified his radical mindset. During his incarceration, Lamari joined an Algerian Islamist prison group.

And with his great Iraq homeland security record of achievement as a guide I think we should be glad that George W. Bush is not working harder for American Homeland security.
