As long as you don't look too closely, or need to defend yourself, or ask about the city's debt... Chicago IS a beautiful city...as long as you stay in the clean and relatively safe city center...but make a wrong turn into one of the 'hoods and you might think you fell through a wormhole to a 3rd world dung heap.... At Night when you see the Light ... (more)

Chicago may look stunning on the outside, but beware! Chicagoland is a whitewashed tomb, full of endless ghettos, social deserts, no-man's-land neighborhoods, gangs, thugs, flash mobs, corruption, spoiled women who only look for money in a man, even to the point of them dating and marrying the gang bangers, flash mobsters, drug dealers, and other hardened criminals. Literally, they are no longer just going for breadwinner guys (which are becoming ever harder to find in practically all general communities nationwide as fewer guys get hired and more jobs go to the ladies), they are going for breadstealer guys! Guys who win their bread through armed robberies, homicides, car jackings, flash mob attacks, drug dealing, burglaries, thefts, and other nasty crimes.

Not to mention too, the suburbs are even more devoid of niceness than Chicago itself! DuPage, Lake, Kane, DeKalb, and Will counties have practically no nice people living in the community in many widespread areas, only selfish, stuck up snobs. In fact, from experience, even New York City (Manhattan borough) is a social paradise compared to Chicago's collar county area! And now it even appears that anti-social atmosphere is encroaching on Chicago proper as practically half to three quarters of young, beautiful ladies relocate from the suburbs, even as far away as Naperville, Elgin, Bartlett, Wheaton, and Downers Grove, into the ghetto to date/marry gangsters and thugs. And that is a HUGE ghetto you are looking at; you're talking everywhere east of Cicero Avenue, from Lawrence Avenue (4800 north) all the way south to Steger Road (23100 south) and eastward, nonstop, to the lakefront and right through Gary, Indiana. Although there is apparently a small area between 95th Street and 127th street where the ghetto only extends to about the east edge of the cemeteries/wooded areas just east of Kedzie Avenue. But north of Ogden Avenue, the ghetto extends even farther west to Austin Avenue. Within that entire area, including Downtown Chicago, the Chicago Loop, the so-called "Magnificant Mile" which is really nowadays the Dangerous and Deadly Mile, whatever is not covered by street gangs (Latin Kings, Mickey Cobras, Gangster Disciples, etc) is covered by the way far more lethal Flash Mobs. In fact, a thread about Chicago's flash mobs can be found at http://www.topix.com/forum/chicago/TI9P1FDVHM...

P.S. The city center is NOT safe at all! In fact, the city center is a terribly dangerous, crime ridden area. That includes the loop area, the Museum Campus area, the Grant Park area, Michigan Avenue, the Navy Pier area, and the entire lakefront from Lawrence Avenue southward. The extremely lethal Flash Mobs have completely overtaken the city center and many numerous neighborhoods adjacent and near the city center. They have also filled in all gaps between street gang territory on the near north side, as well as the entire west and south side area.
