Can you have an intelligent, meaningful dialog with those who hate, even in opposition to their position?

ANY group, no matter of color or religion, is capable of extreme hatred.

Can one ...REASON...with
or agree to disagree with,
any group, or individual, with an extreme agenda against another group, based on skin color, country of heritage, religion, etc?

(I know republicans and democrats cannot, but that's another thread.)

At this point, I will bow out and let others speak freely.

I did not create this thread to fish or "troll", or BAIT.
However, I cannot control how others will respond, or WHO will respond.
Therefore, I hope to prove a point here, by letting this play out.

GOOD LUCK!

Wow, you must be really good, because I'm wondering how you knew that the original poster's motive, or whether or not that person is white themselves. I thought the post said asked a sound question. Lemme see, maybe they were trying to stir up hatred by asking a question that would require thought provoking responses. I dunno, maybe I'm just a dumb black chick....

Anyway, to answer the question from my standpoint. I think it's because there's no class in school called Being Subjective 101. Maybe there should be. But theirs not.

People are likely to take the path of least resistance, so in that same thread, they're not likely to see someone else's opinion as vital to sociological communication because it forces them to think about a topic from another person's perspective. And sometimes, for some people. That's just too much work. It's just easier to hate the opposing view point as well as the opposition, and be done with it. That way, you don't have to explain why you've seen someone's point to the people who share your viewpoint... See? The path of least resistance.

I'm white. Crazy Guggenheim was white. Google it. I'm not a Jew, No real ethnic group that will really have me. Family in this country since before 1900.
Catholic, that is it.

I'm not going to be involved here, after this point.

People with strong negative feelings toward others aren't really going to "AGREE TO DISAGREE"
I could be wrong, but I have not seen it.

Possible? I don't know.
Likely? No

just an opinion

I'd like to be wrong, however

Why do hate groups exist?

OK, well my take on it is that they feel threatened by the other group. They develop a fear of them from propaganda, from a memory of a traumatic incident involving someone from the hated group (prejudice), or a part of their beliefs/lives are directly threatened by an aspect of the other group. An example of the latter would be homophobic groups. These groups tend to hate gay people because they represent a part of THEMSELVES that they hate. This represents a threat to their ego (please excuse the psycho-babble).

In a person for whom the fear breeds insecurity they search for prople who will make them feel secure, especially people who hold the same beliefs. This is called dogmatism.

These people then form a group to tarnish the reputation of the hated group.

Trouble is people like that often believe they are the good and that the other group is evil. To this end they very often use a veil of religion to seem righteous in their hatred.

It's sad how little insight people in hate groups hav to their own inner workings.....

PS
To America First,
Don't waste your whole life on fear and hatred.

You'll only become bitter.

All are created equal. Therefore, the only thing that makes one person superior to another is their effort to develop a capacity for compassion.
So, are you putting in the effort?
