Do you have any recommendations on where to go? Ebay is still the biggest and the best. I tried ebid and wasted $50, got very little traffic. I tried some stuff on etsy as some of my items are craft related and the traffic was almost nill...

This practice ties up payments that sellers have received and gone ahead and shipped INDEFINITELY (it can go beyond 21 days- as if that's not bad enough), greatly inconveniencing Sellers who have to be out the cost of shipping (plus the merchandise) and then sit and wait for 3 weeks for their funds to be released before they can use them. I wonder what Illinois law has to say about this and if anyone has contacted the Attorney General's office about this matter yet.
. Illinois government probably has their hand in the cookie jar!

From a poster, Steevo, on the blog, regarding eBay's response to Carl Icahn's proposal that PayPal be spun off from Ebay: "...If they spun Paypal off then Paypal could not be ordered by ebay to hold sellers funds for 21 days.

Ebay would never allow that.

I did complain again last week to the California department of financial institutions about Paypal.

I pointed out to an official there that though Paypal is licensed as a ''money transmitter'' they are making business loans. Clearly outside the functions of their business as a money transmitter. They guy admitted it.

If they would just suspend Paypal completely that would bring this all to the forefront. The legislature is going to have to get involved."

I agree on that, the 21 day holds are the worst.

I have never sold on ebay. I have bought many things on ebay. I always gave 5 stars to the sellers. Even the brass fittings and nuts that came from china. I have always used EBAY gift card that I bought with cash from giant eagle for the fuel dicounts
The only bad thing I came across was that they limit the amount you can buy in 90 period with a gift card, yet no limit if paypal is linked to your checking account. I bought a few items that was more than the balance on the gift card and the money was out of the checking account before the seller could get the item labeled and shipped.
They don't wait 24 hours to get money from the seller.

Sorry the sellers are getting screwed
