Nice that this is buried in your news coverage. People are coming from 8 surrounding states. Sounds like an event worth giving better play to

Curious that the Tribune article avoids saying the obvious, that the group United for Peace and Justice is a coalition of extreme left wing groups. Organizations that are members are: American Friends Service Committee, Black Radical Congress, Center for Constitutional Rights, CODEPINK, Friends of the Earth, Global Exchange, Gold Star Families for Peace, Green Party of the United States, Greenpeace, Iraq Veterans Against the War, Military Families Speak Out, National Organization for Women, National Youth and Student Peace Coalition, Not in Our Name, PAX Christi USA, Peace Action, RainbowPUSH Coalition, September 11th Families for Peaceful Tomorrows, TrueMajority, US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation, US Labor Against the War, Veterans For Peace, Vietnam Veterans Against the War, and War Resisters League. Have a happy march. Maybe it will rain.

Yeah! Damn Peace groups! How dare they?

I will be there, as I usually am, marching happily and if it does rain, Karl, I will march in the rain. It's that important.

The reporters won't be there, because thousands upon thousands of people marching peacefully and calling for the end to the war doesn't make the evening news.

Maruska, leave poor Karl alone.

Remember, he's one of the few "patriotic" Americans left who believe the best way to honor our country is to watch our brave young servicemen and women die needlessly.

In Bush's version of America, watching Americans die for a lost cause and a bungled war, plus spending billions to do it = Patriotism.

One more reason I'm a proud Democrat.

By the way Karl, happy 6th Anniversary of the government you love so much NOT even coming close to capturing the mastermind behind 9/11.

Yes. Bin Laden runs free, the war drones on, and a country loses faith in government. All the while, Republicans smirk and mock a peace movement.

I don't know about you, but I'd take Bill Clinton and his intern escapades any day right about now...

Still mad about that one, Karl? Good! Get mad about interns, spending money on poor sick kids, and gay marriage.

The Democrats will worry about the real stuff: lie bringing our troops HOME.

As a member of the armed forces currently serving in Afghanistan, I am ashamed to be from the Chicago area when I see things like this. YOu have no idea how demoralizing it is for service members to see their own home town protesting against the mission they are sent to do.
There ARE good things happening in Iraq; the media chooses not to report them because they don't make good headlines and they don't help them in the ratings.

Do not believe that the war in Iraq will end with the 2008 elections. It won't. The politicians would have you believe it, but reality will demand otherwise.

THERE WILL BE A COUNTER DEMONSTRATION AT THE SAME LOCATION
WHICH WILL CELEBRATE THE IRAQ WAR VICTORY. THE SURGE WORKED & WE HAVE GIVEN FREEDOM TO MILLIONS OF IRAQI'S.
WHY DO YOU THINK THERE HAS BEEN NO NEWS ON IRAQ LATELY. IT'S BECAUSE IT'S ALL GOOD NEWS. WE WON. YOU IDIOTS NEED TO MOVE ON TO ANOTHER STUPID PROJECT TO DEMONSTATE AGAINST BECAUSE THIS ONE IS WON BY OUR BRAVE SOLDIERS. HOW ABOUUT THE WE ARE IDIOTS & WANT EVERYONE TO KNOW DEMONSTRATION. OH I FORGOT..THAT IS YOUR DEMONSTRATION TODAY.

Gary, if you are right, and "we won" the war in Iraq, why is another $45 Billion needed to continue the fight?

You and I both agree that our brave servicemen and women have done a kick-ass job over in Iraq.

So now that, as you suggest, we've given the Iraqi's freedom, can we bring our troops home and call the war over?

After all, as you state, "We Won".

By the way, no need to resort to name calling like "idiot" for people who disagree with you. Isn't the whole point of freedom to have the ability to disagree with government?

I realize Bush would like to that that away as well, but for the time being, I'm going to continue to peacefully exercise my right as an American and disagree with our foreign policy.

Heck, protesting a war seems a lot smarter than protesting abortions or gay marriage to this American.

That's the kind of freedom we fought for in Iraq, let's keep that kind of freedom alive here in the U.S.

Sgt.,

First off, thank G-d for men and women like you who are brave enough to fight. The war in Afghanistan is of particular interest to me, considering the Taliban and AlQueda's origins there. After 9/11, this Democrat was 100% for the war in Afghanistan, because there seemed to be clear cut evidence that they were directly involved with the attacks on America.

Over 4 years into the Iraq war, however, and with our President asking for $45 billion more - which would seem to indicate that this thing isn't ending anytime soon - I remain disgusted with the policy behind the Iraq war.

Let me state this very clearly, and I will happily speak for most democrats: WE SUPPORT THE TROOPS WITH ALL OF OUR HEARTS. We want you to be protected, taken care of for life, to receive the best medical care, to be able to come home and enjoy civilian life for awhile before going back to fight.

But more than anything, we want you home for Christmas; especially our brothers and sisters in Iraq - a place where even you suggest, there are good things happening.

Great. We went there to oust Saddam, and hunt for WMD's. Both missions have been accomplished for some time. Now all we want is for our soldiers to come home.

I'm not sure how that's so demoralizing; that we care for you enough to want you to spend Christmas with your loved ones and end one of the longest wars in our nation's history.

I respect our soldiers passionately. However it is my right as an American to question our bungled foreign policy and a government which seems to lie at every turn.

And Sgt, I will continue to both respect our servicemen and women while disagreeing with this war as long as my freedoms allow me to do so.

G-d bless you, and please be safe.

My dear friend. I am also a Chicagoan. My tax payer money pays your check and I think that with the billions that we have spent the war has been a disaster.

I do not feel that we have to genuflect or thank the armed services.

It was an invasion that had nothing to do with truth and less to do with bring democracy.

Let the people demonstrate. It doen't matter anyway. The government does what it wants. We have lost our freedom.

AS far as the puppet government is concerned in Iraq. What a joke it is. If there were not threat of military action the government would fall.

This is not freedom of choice. IT's forced manipulation called freedom.

I was in the military. I know first handed what a joke we really are.

We make up for it by throwing billions at the generals.

You know that the armed services of the US is a large horribly run sham.

When did the U.S.A. turn into a nation of soldier sniffers?

Do I "support the troops"? Well, I certainly don't want any of them to get hurt and I wish them all the best.

Do I support their mission in Iraq? Hell no! It has nothing to do with my or their freedom. It's Bechtel's and Haliburton's and the Carlisle Group's and Dick Cheney's mission.

And I hope it fails.

And I hope every last American soldier there gets home safely. Or gets redployed to fight the real enemy: Osama and Al qaeda in Aghanistan or Pakistan or Saudi Arabia. Not in Iraq.

The last good 'Reality' TV show I've seen was in 1968, when the CPD got a little workout in Grant Park. The show was called "Police Riot" and I couldn't get lucky enough to enjoy a 07 version of that great show broadcasted today.

Okay, everyone in the parade, don't forget your red flags, your upside-down American flags, your 1960s "peace" signs, your caricatures of Bush and Cheney, and all the professionally and expensive printed "no war" signs that you have been used so often in San Francisco. Remember to trim the gray pony tails. Oh, and by the way, the chant, "Hey, Hey, LBJ, How Many Children Did You Kill Today," no longer applies. Remember to mention the Democrats in Congress for funding the war. My brother, Vladimir and I will be there cheering you on...in spirit, of course. Your buddy, Karl M.

Illegal Aliens Kill More Americans Than The War In Iraq
New Statistics On The Cost Of Illegal Immigration

This information is confirmed by Mike Cutler, a former senior special agent with the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service, who says the high number of Americans killed by illegal aliens is only part of the collateral damage that comes with tolerating illegal immigration. An adviser for Family Security Measures, he estimates some 2,158 murders are committed every year by illegal aliens in the United States. Here are some statistics that bear out this report:

Ninety-five percent of warrants for murder in Los Angeles, Calif. are for illegal aliens.

Eighty-three percent of warrants for murder in Phoenix, Ariz. are for illegal aliens.

Eighty-six percent of warrants for murder in Albuquerque, N.M., are for illegal aliens.

Seventy-five percent of people on the "Most Wanted" list in Los Angeles, Phoenix, and Albuquerque are illegal aliens.

Twenty-five percent of all inmates in California detention centers are Mexican nationals who are here illegally.

Forty percent of all inmates in Arizona detention centers are Mexican nationals here illegally.

Forty-eight percent of all inmates in New Mexico detention centers are Mexican nationals here illegally.

Twenty-nine percent (630,000) convicted illegal alien felons occupy our state and federal prisons at a cost of $1.6 billion annually.

More than 53 percent of burglaries in California, New Mexico, Nevada, Arizona, and Texas are perpetrated by illegal aliens.

More than half of all gang members in Los Angeles are illegal aliens from south of the border.

More than 70 percent of all cars stolen in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, and California are stolen by illegals.

Forty-seven percent of drivers stopped by police in California have no license, insurance, or registration; and of that 47 percent, 92 percent are illegal aliens.

Sixty-three percent of stopped drivers in Arizona have no license, insurance, or registration for the vehicle. Of that 63 percent, 97 percent are illegal aliens.

Sixty-six percent of stopped drivers in New Mexico have no license, insurance, or registration; and of that 66 percent, 98 percent are illegals.

A recent study by Pew Hispanic Center reveals Hispanics are two times more likely to be incarcerated than non-Hispanics.

They are 3.8 times more likely to be imprisoned for murder than non-Hispanics and Hispanic youth are more likely to be found in gangs.

Fifty-five percent of Mexican Americans consider themselves to be Mexican first.

Yes and I guess the Mexicans killed 150,000 Iraqi civilians (lowest estimate) and are responsible for over a million refugees. Of course the Iraqis are foreigners as well so I guess they don't count in your stats. Tell me did the Mexicans crucify Jesus in your world?

Ah, a cop sniffer joins the discussion. Nothing like a little police brutality to get you aroused huh?
