WCPT says "Can't change others Yourself"

This idea of "you can't change others, you can only change yourself" is so terrible, platitudinous and foolish. and WCPT Chicago's Progressive Talk keeps airing that statement since the Trayvon Martin case decision. Why should we work to change anything in government, in society if we can't change others, by our votes for example, as well as other influential means. I would suggest that WCPT stop playing that often said and over-used statement which is nothing more than a mantra for the pull yourself up by your own strapless boot bootstraps crowd. Of course we need to take personal responsibility(but there are some who even need to be taught and given the tools to do that).
