Has anyone heard about the Easter Egg Hunt in Prairie Grove? One of the candidates for village president- Kurt Milliman was handing out big candy bunnys to OUR CHILDREN with a message on the back that we would be "doomed" if they didn't vote for him! Are you kidding me? Stay away from our kids buddy!!!!

Quote from the back of the Bunny "Kurt Milliman-In recognizing atrocoties that have become the end result of Prairie Grove politics within the last decade, it is obvious that agressive action is required, else, the future of Prairie Grove is doomed and the destination of your ever increasing tax dollars will only support the continuance of our misrepresentation. You have a choice vote for me!"

This is a new low. Was he kicked out I hope? How is anyone supposed to explain to a small child why someone was so mean???

Wasn't kicked out but I wish he would have been. I did see one parent yelling at him as he pulled away so perhaps he got the message. Would have loved to have heard what was said....lol....she looked pretty mad!

Really what are some people thinking? I'm sure he already lost the race for himself. He has no one else to blame.

Does that idiot have any brains. How dare you use our children. What other underhanded tricks will he use??? Thank goodness we have another choice who will protect our children and not use them as pawns. Good luck Stanley Duda !!!!!!!!!!

It might be legal and I beleive in free speech...but his actions were inappropriate and classless. Atrocities are: war crimes mass murders, the holocost et. It shows the kind of leader he will make. Heaven help PG if he is elected.

I think the Village having the event was great to gather the people and work towards building positive momentum in the community. I don't have a problem with Mr. Milliman having been there to introduce himself as it seems like many of us simply don't know much about him. What I do know, I don't particularly care for because I have been seeing nothing but nasty pamphlets appear at the end of my drive the past couple of days and nobody claiming credit for it. Additionally, this event was to focus on the kids and bringing community together. I had really kept an open mind until this transpired and Mr. Milliman forced that decision. I wish Mr. Duda luck and hope he can hold true to his campaign promises. I appreciate very much that Mr. Duda came by to personally discuss his position and also defend the materials having been distributed. God bless our community, including Mr. Milliman.

I encourage you to review the material Kurt and his team (PAC - Truth in Taxation of Prairie Grove) put out about Stan Duda. There is accurate and inaccurate information within the brochure he mailed. I was really peaved when I initially read that he had changed zoning to Ag to skip on paying his fair share of property taxes but when I looked more closely and went to the Nunda site showing public tax records, it would appear he is paying close to $13,000 annually. That isn't as high as my tax bill but it is pretty darn high to me. The document also states the tax rate as .39 and it is .36 actually which is a substantial difference from what they're suggesting. The current administration didn't suggest they would not use the home rule to increase taxes at all but rather the previous administration did. When I FOIA'ed the Administrator's contract, the inclusion of cell phone and car allowance appears to be part of the base compensation, not in addition to. When comparing the information provided about other municipalities in terms of population and administrator salaries, it didn't add up because it seemed like they were presenting numbers with benefits for one and a base salary for outside municipalities for another which isn't apples to apples.
I am retired and recently moved to this Village. I moved from out East to this area because of the people and the beautiful location. I hope we can find a way to come together as a community and not battle one another.

If your were interested in the mailing put out by Milliman- you may be even more interested to know he doesn't even get a tax bill!!!!
Call him, he'll tell you. He has no ties that bind him to our community, as he's not even married, and lives in his girlfriend's house. How can he possibly have the same concerns that we do as actual taxpayers when he doesn't even own property here to pay taxes himself????

Milliman- why don't you actually purchase a home here, and pay taxes yourself- then you may have some concept of what our taxes are paying for. I don't think you have a clue.

By the way- how do you expect to manage a board when you yourself have only gone to 1 meeting. EVER??? And you expect people on the board to try and work with you after you keep on slamming them saying they've commited "atrocoties?"

The NW Herald is unable to print in time for Tues. and may be printing following the election, so I'm posting here as this is a public forum. It looks like I wasn't the only one upset with Mr. Milliman. Candidates, please get the message here. If your running to represent us, act like it. Behave yourself.

As a resident of Prairie Grove, and as
a candidate for Village President we
expect better from you. If you have
election propaganda to distribute don't
hand it to my 3 and 4 year old children
at a village sponsored Easter Egg Hunt
on the back of a chocolate bunny! My
children are not of voting age, nor
have they ever been exposed to the type
of vicious rantings you used on the
back of the bunny you handed them.
The anonymous half thought out mailings
you send are not even backed by a
name. Well, I'm not afraid to say who
I am, nor why you have lost completely
lost my respect - Don't mess with our
Easter Mr. Milliman, and don't mess
with our kids!

Certainly now what I would do, but politicians always seem to want to use public events to promote themselves. At least this guy didn't white out an official notarized document, and later try to call it unintentional.

how come all these postings are from everywhere, but Crystal Lake or Prairie Grove. and the parent that was yelling was the current village president who seems to have some issues of his own. gotta love the local politics.

I believe you may find some people didn't appreciate the fur coat you wore to the hunt either Nicole. Just some food for thought.

Correct. That probably was the first lady yelling at him not the pres. If Duda doesn't get elected her husband won't get appointed as a trustee as it would appear that successfully running for office is no longer possible for the first man.

Wow- Really glad to see some other people were as concerned about this too! And again...wow...People have started talking about all sorts political stuff here, that was not the intent of the original post- did those people even read it? Quite frankly, I'm really sick of most of the politics here in our state.

If your at an event to say hello, show your support, and introduce yourself that's one thing. People welcome that.

It's another animal when someone puts some garbage on the back of candy and gives it to your kid. That's a no no. I really don't care who it was that did it, it's not right and as parents we have every right say when they've crossed a line, as parents we should. It may be legal but it's just wrong.

This is the same Stan Duda that had the issue of whiting out an offical document after he had the document signed by registered voters and notarized. And you are going to trust him. Not me. Vote Kurt Milliman

Again, this guy has been trained by school supporters that USE our children. Same political folks that sent political messages in school backpacks before. He could have simply had an above board message...stood out in the crowd...instead he sinks to the lowest level...expect more bahavior like this. All "his ideas" come from others and look at this tactic.

I just find it humorist that bunnies and white out are being debated here. I am only interested in fiscally sound government. I don't want to be overtaxed OR pay over a $100K for administrator when it's not needed. Bring responsibility back to our village and bounce Duda with Breseman.

Actually, if you reread the document you will note the word estimate by the tax rate. The clerk comes out with the worksheets on 3-30 with the tax rates typically. The only people that would have known the rate is .36 is someone within the Village. The non home rule rate as listed on the document also would go down by .03. The spread or % difference is the point. That spread would remain the same. Your point of the .36 is not valid.
