Because it's a newer car (despite the muffler) and most newer cars are efficient enough that they don't actually warm up at all while idling. On a few of the extremely bitter days I've driven the kid down to the bus stop and let him sit in the car until the bus comes, and that engine temperature needle does not MOVE off the cold line until I'm actually driving at speed.
All I can figure is that he's actually waiting for the engine temperature needle to come up to the middle. They're not waiting for the inside of the passenger cabin to warm up, they are waiting for the engine to warm up.
i don't even have a temp guage on my new car... i figure by the time the butt warmers are at "boil' the heater won't be spewing cold air any more. In my old car (2003) i would sit in it a bit and rev the engine a couple times, but that was barely 5 minutes.

LW1 - yeah, get off your holier than thou high horse. i could come up with a few other platitudes, but meh... let her waste her gas money.

LW2 - the kid's an adult... let her be. kick her out to gain some distance and sanity for yourself. she has to want to change for herself, and clearly from what you've written here, she doesn't want to. as for hte teahcer, he'll get his, at home and at work. while it may not be illegal in this case, there is a concern that the teacher is cavorting with a student and the fear that he may do it again with someone even younger.

He's a HS teacher. She's 20. What student is he cavorting with?

Exactly. He is just a vault of misinformation. And someone lost the key to that vault.

Gee, I suppose I must be pretty uninformed as I'm not aware of any main stream Rrepublican platform that wishes to outlaw birth control and is actively attempting to ban abortion. If such a thing is "all over the news" then it should be rather easy to provide an example.

I'm aware of an effort to prevent taxpayer FUNDED birth control and abortion. Is that what you're talking about and you're trying to spin it? I fully support that movement. As a taxpayer, it is NOT my responsibility to provide YOU with abortion and birthcontrol. Eff you. That's YOUR responsibility.

The fact Democrats wish to line women up and abort their babies at the taxpayer offense, I find alarming and frankly scary.

she was his student at one time...(im assuming i know) so it shows poor judgemnt on his part IMO to get into a relationship, well wiht anyone since he's married, but with someone he recently had as a student. <shrug>

You could have stopped at "pretty uninformed." This stuff was all over the TV news, blogosphere, etc., when the election was underway.

You've made quite a few assumptions
-that she went to THAT high school (there's lots of high schools that in my area. Any one of them could correctly be referred to as "local")
-that he ever had her as a student (There were lots of teachers at my SMALL high school that I never had. I imagine there would be a great deal more if the school was a large one.)
-that he was even a teacher at the time she was a student there(I graduated at 17. I'm pretty certain my school had a number of teachers come and go in the 3 years after I left)

She could easily have never met the dude till she snuck into the bar for happy hour with her fake ID and had no idea he was a teacher till she was already doin him.

No one is lining anyone up. I never hear how ticked off you are that viagra is covered or that men get snipped and insurance pays for it.

Did a search on the word abortion, and so no mention of banning it. Just to remove federal funds for paying for it.

If it's in your private insurance plan, then more power to ya. I'm taking about tax payer funded plans.

(The Obamacare provision that forced companies provide birth control was over-turned. Good.)

Oh please, edog. If you are unaware that EVERY one of your major candidates for the presidency took the stance against legal birth control that includes the pill and IUD, then you're being deliberately obtuse. IT'S IN YOUR PARTY'S OFFICIAL PLATFORM.

From Forbes magazine:

In case it wasn’t clear that your birth control doesn’t matter to the GOP, in its statement on “The Sanctity and Dignity of Human Life,” it says:

Faithful to the “self-evident” truths enshrined in the Declaration of Independence, we assert the sanctity of human life and affirm that the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed. We support a human life amendment to the Constitution and endorse legislation to make clear that the Fourteenth Amendment’s protections apply to unborn children.

This language is strikingly similar to that used by the Personhood movement, which defines “person” as beginning at the moment of fertilization. Such a definition, beyond making abortion completely illegal, would also endanger in vitro fertilization and some forms of contraception.

***

"some forms of contraception" include the birth control pill and the IUD, specifically. They want to ban those two forms of birth control.

From a doctor site w/a Q&A and it was asked and then answer is:

"If you mean does Medicare Part D pay for Viagra, the answer is yes and no. Under the Medicare Part D program requirements, which all Part D private insurers are required to be equal or greater than, Viagra, or drugs for erectile dysfunction are not covered.

However, some Part D standalone plans or Medicare Advantage Plans with Prescription Drug Coverage (MA-PD's) provide value added benefits which include Viagra. Go to the Medicare.gov website and enter your drug information and your zip code to see a list of plans in your area."

I looked again and could not find that quote on their website. All's I could find was this.

. Through Obamacare, the current Administration has promoted the notion of abortion as healthcare. We, however, affirm the dignity of women by protecting the sanctity of human life. Numerous studies have shown that abortion endangers the health and well-being of women, and we stand firmly against it.

Can you find the direct quote on their website?

The GOP website? I'd have to be the most bored person on earth to go there. Although, I did make that a liberal friend's computer home page while he was on his honeymoon and I was housesitting.

Well, then I guess you cant really dispute what mutt said. He contended the GOP was against using federal dollars, and I could find nothing that did not support that claim. I could find no mention of banning abortions altogether. Nor could I find any mention of them saying that life begins at conception or wanting to change the constitution.
