I simply disagree. I've spent time at a retirement community (my mother lived at one.) I did not encounter this at all.
And I'm sure all the old ladies shared the most intimate details of their sex lives with a young whippersnapper like you, such that you would be the Dr. Drew on the sex lives of elderly ladies.

I never said anyone shared anything.

Maybe retirement communities in Florida are different. Do a search for "the Villages STD". The Villages is one of the largest retirement communities in the country and is also is known for having one of the highest STD rates in the coutry. BTW, it is also a haven for Republicans.

I don't think YOU as an outsider and not an old person would be privy to the inner machinations of the dating scene at a retirement community.

The letters to amy and abby and ann landers paint a pretty good picture: The men don't want to be tied down to one woman when they have their pick of the ladies. Not all men, but many.

I have no experience with this part: If a person has a hairpiece or wig, do you take it off before you go to bed with someone? If you don't, does it slip during , um, festivities?
What about teeth? Do they stay in overnight or come out?
IMNSHO,almost any extra appliance or procedure is a mask: wig, face lift, tummy tuck. I exclude only the functional ones like contact lenses, hearing aids and false teeth.
There are exceptions that make it a rather fuzzy line though, would you agree?
A tummy tuck could have followed a huge weight loss - the kind that leaves you with pounds of extra skin flapping around. And the contact lenses could be to change the eye color. Or maybe there was a purely functional need that then got enhanced "while we are at it".

Big deal, so did my mother. If you think that experience provided you with the reality or insight to make judgements re senior life and their dating options in the real world you are more delusional then you've already proved.

LW1: My beautiful aunt has thinning hair and wears a wig. I'm sure she would have told that therapist to stuff it. You're 70. Stop caring what other people think and do what you want to do.

LW2: For online dating, the first date is really a meeting. You shouldn't be going out to dinner. I'm with Red. Get there early and buy your own coffee. After that, if the man asks you out, he pays for the first date. Anything after that is negotiable.

LW3: Whether or not she changes her mind in the future, I stand by my original assertion that she will not find a doctor to perform a tubal ligation on her at her age. She needs to use good birth control until she is older.

When you have a large population in a centralized area, you're gonna have high rates of just about anything, so not really sure that proves anything. And that also doesn't prove whether or not 70 yr old men are dating 70 yr old women

How big of you and Angela to assume I can't possibly have any idea what I'm talking about.

I never said I know anything about anybody's sex life! Good God, man, stop putting words in my mouth and making up your own argument! Stick to what was said, I will not engage in an argument over comments I never made!

FUnny. we were talking about seniors' sex lives. You did purport to know all about this but now you don't? Which is it?

I think everybody here makes that assumption pretty much every day, on every subject.

The subject was dating hsbits. Not sex.Dating does not always equal sex especially for old people
Even sex is not always STD/intercourse.You can't use STD rate to prove anything except lack of protection
