Those of you who are or were married--do/did you wear your ring constantly? I'd say I wear mine maybe 10-20% of the time. I don't ever wear it to sleep, just hanging out at the house, on days that I play hockey in the morning, biking, etc. I'm working from home today and not wearing it. J never wears his but I don't think it fits. Like, I care about it and I always know where it is, I just don't see a need to wear it constantly.
I only took mine off for dishes, housecleaning, etc. A ring is the symbol of the marriage. But really, though, it's just a ring. But jewlry given to me by someone tends to mean so much more than the actual jewelry to me.

Different strokes and all that.

The most important thing is the marriage itself than any symbol.

When my husband and I were together, I'd wear it all the time except maybe cleaning. He'd have a heart attack if I didn't wear my rings. One night we were going out (together) and I forgot my rings. We realized it half way to where we were going and he made teh cab driver turn around so we could go back to the house and get them. I thought it was ridiculous. We weren't even going otu in public. Just to a party with a group of friends.

I never take off my wedding band, even when I was pregnant. It was too big when we bought it, but the engagement ring held it on so I never bothered to have it sized. The engagement ring I currently wear is not my original one (that's in my jewelry box); it was a surprise from my hubby and sister when we found out I was pregnant (we lost that one, but Lulu was concieved not that long after). It is currently in the shop having the prongs repaired. I scraped it on the inside of a ceramic pot and did it some serious damage. Ooops!

Dickie wears his all the time too, until very recently. He had been practicing a lot for a gig and started getting cramps so bad in his left hand that he couldn't move it. He took the ring off to massage the hand and discovered that the pain went away. He later confessed that his fingers had gotten fat and it had been bothering him for awhile. I'm cool with it if he doesn't wear it all the time.

I see a lot of married people who've gained weight whose wedding bands look like they're uncomfortably tight. My boss has gained a lot, and she finally got her ring resized, and it's lovely (I'd never seen it until the last few months). I'm glad she got it resized. Her husband had been bugging her, saying "I spent allt hat money on a ring and you aren't wearing it?"

I must confess that we did not spend a lot on Dickie's ring but I like seeing it on him so I'm encouraging him to have it resized. My good step-sis is in the jewelry biz so it probably won't even cost that much; she has tons of connections and folks that owe her a favor.

I just had a pinky ring resized (gold ring with a small coin from the 1600's mounted in it) only cost me $50 and if came back completly polished, they did a great job.

mine is on 24/7. Friend advised me to get a nice slender ring that I would barely notice was on my finger. I took that advice.
