Most preschools won't allow non-potty-trained children to attend either. They have different DCFS certifications than daycares whose employees can handle diapering needs.
my older nephew was on the young side of potty training before the younger one was due to arrive, so he didbn't get trained until the older end of hte spectrum. between new baby and moving to a new country, there wasn't the time and attention available to get him trained at the averag age. they were really working on it when he started a preschool program just before he turned 3. but the program wasn't a good fit for him, and i htink he regressed. the new school got him back out of diapers and into big boy pants in a week. he still apparently springs a leak overnight, but during hte day he's good to go.

I don't know if it was good teacher or peer pressure that got him back on track, but amen and hallalujah to them.

My friend's kids are in an in-home day care. There's a little boy who's 4.5 years old. He's STILL not potty trained. Day care provider told the parents that they needed to focus on potty training while she was on vacation for a week (meaning, they would be home all week with him). Parent: "We want YOU to do it." He's a horrible kid, but it's not his fault -- the parents just don't do their job.
His little sister also is showing developmental delays. The parents refuse to address it.
I absolutely believe that 95% of educating a child is the parents' job. Teachers can't do much when parents aren't doing their own work of parenting.
I totally agree.

Not potty-training your child by age 3 is beyond disgusting, IMHO. Most children can be trained much earlier. Do the parents have no shame? UGH.

The fact that the parents thought they didn't have to do anything and that the day care provider would/should/could do it all on her own shows what clueless and awful parents they are.

Yep. They should not have had kids.

<quoted text>last week, this kid pooped on the bathroom floor then smeared it all over everything.
IMO this kid is not just developmentally delayed; he sounds emotionally disturbed.
