Wasson's actually a really great guy but doesn't have the creds to run a large company like Walgreens. But he is a pharmacist and in Walgreens' culture, a pharmacist can do it all.

Looks like more of the same old same old at Walgreens. Watch for more layoff especially in mail service and health services.

Maybe Chia pet sales will rise and save the day at Walgreens. Kids, this company is clueless since they can't count on opening stores every 18 hours to make it appear like sales are growing. This is a yesterday-style retailer that is going to slide.

You know what they say, "the higher they climb...."

What a disgusting shame. This guy gets entitled to $2M+ a year, plus god knows how much stock, a golden parachute...etc. And the first thing he does is layoff employees (not managers) who earn approx $30k a year. Selfish bastard.

You forgot to mention that he sent the rest of his hourly employees towards the poorhouse in addition. It's not like you make a fortune at Walgreens as an hourly employee.

I totally agree here! Why is it that MGT's got such a pay cut and everyone else either stayed the same or got a raise and a bonus (pharmacy)? I have the answer. They are phasing out the MGT position.

what they need to do is either start letting business people run the show (not rx people)or let mark wagner run the show.... i feel like he would be good for this company as a ceo...... i once had a dm tell me when i was an mgt that we ( management) are the face of walgreens because we have to cover for all mistakes, even ones in the pharmacy... he had said that rx school is great for teaching rx crap but most pharmacists would flunk if they had to take a class on people skills....lmao

What all employees need to do is when their year end proxy stock statements come ...Vote the entire Board of Directors OUT and write in Kevin Walgreen. Getting a young Walgreen on the board will change the direction of the company and get all these Wal-Mart/ outside execs that have been hired out !

Thanks to Wasson and his outsiders Walgreens is no longer a safe place to work. All you hear is Offshore. Send the work to India. Why not offshore Wasson's job too.

If he is able to get WAG up to $100.00 per share; he deserves his million; if not; shame on him for 50 cents per hour for all his professional pharmacists; does not bother me as I am eligible to retire; I worry about my younger peers; they will receive no raises;no bonuses; will try to warn younger PharmD's there are better alternatives than WAG retail as nothing is being done to improve our work environment-just short little fat jerks spying on us to make sure we are pushing PSC,flavorings,etc..and mistreating our fine techs. Several years ago remember Eckerds-similar mgmt structure-look at Eckerds today!!! Karma can be very sweet!!!

There are stores out there with pharmacies selling drugs as a "loss leader" to get you in the store to buy their other goods. Why do you think there is a Walgreens,CVS,or Rite Aid on every other corner? I'm surprised they all don't start selling gas.
