Western Washington winters have sporadic snow falls in the lowlands. As time spans from the coldest period of our winter increase, snow becomes very much rarer. However, I've seen snow(not ice sleet) come down in June. So you ain't saying nothin'.

Science has a standard for measuring how well theories work, experiments. There are no experiments that show climate change mitigation can work or how much it would cost, nobody has ever changed global temperature, much less mitigated climate change, by experiment. That's how you can tell its a hoax.

Stuff that works is made up of prototypes, then progressively more effective real world models. Stuff that doesn't work is sold by testimonials from consensus and graphic effects from computer models.

Please learn the difference between reality and fiction.

We've done the experiment. We added half a trillion tons of carbon to the atmosphere, and what happened?

According to radiative physics and decades of laboratory measurements, increased CO2 in the atmosphere is expected to absorb more infrared radiation as it escapes back out to space. In 1970, NASA launched the IRIS satellite measuring infrared spectra. In 1996, the Japanese Space Agency launched the IMG satellite which recorded similar observations. Both sets of data were compared to discern any changes in outgoing radiation over the 26 year period (Harries 2001). What they found was a drop in outgoing radiation at the wavelength bands that greenhouse gases such as CO2 and methane (CH4) absorb energy. The change in outgoing radiation was consistent with theoretical expectations. Thus the paper found "direct experimental evidence for a significant increase in the Earth's greenhouse effect". This result has been confirmed by subsequent papers using data from later satellites (Griggs 2004, Chen 2007).

Our CO2 emissions are part of our lives, not an experiment.

As long as people like Fair Game don't understand what's an experiment and what's not, they'll keep fearing climate change catastrophe. Learn about science and how experiments are used to test theories.

More useless diarrhea from the "pinheadlitesout".
Get that issue and your diaper rash solved and maybe your allergies will be cured. Try to stop sticking your head up spacedoutblues behind and that may help as well.

So is a drugs trial, but it's still classed as an experiment.

I suppose if we released a trillion tons of CO2 into the atmosphere just out of idle curiosity it would be an experiment?

Halfwit.

What was "The Great Experiment?" Imbibing alcohol proved to be part of peoples lives, eh? If your logic regarding "drill baby drill" were implemented as a fix for the eighteenth amendment, baby formula would be 6 proof.

Experiments are not a "standard" of anything. They are simply tests done to determine the accuracy of something.

Climate change MITIGATION is not at issue, but climate change itself and its causes. Mitigation is obviously a straw man here.

Claiming that because you can't peform a hugely difficult feat makes something a "hoax" is an absurdity.

Theories are not physical "stuff that works" like toasters, but explanations tested over time by many methods, INCLUDING but not LIMITED TO experimentation. Of course there are many experiments demonstrating the greenhouse effect and global warming.

Please take your own advice, troll.

Experiments are not always things done in laboratories with test tubes by men wearing white coats, glasses, and pocket-protectors.

Your teachers should have told you this at some level, Brian. Did you ever graduate high school?

A drug trial is an experiment, its not merely measuring metabolic activity.

Idle curiosity might be sufficient to create an experiment. We don't release CO2 into the air for idle curiosity, we emit carbon dioxide in order to live.

Are you writing about Prohibition? The term experiment was used by Herbert Hoover, a politician, not a scientist:

"Our country has deliberately undertaken a great social and economic experiment, noble in motive and far-reaching in purpose."

Like the accuracy of a theory; experiments are the sine qua non of good science.

If you weren't voting for politicians who promised to mitigage climate change, this thread would be irrelevant. Climate change mitigation is the central issue.

^^^tha Professor seems to be as skeptical of climate change mitigation as I am, see how he call it 'hugely difficult'? Toasters use physics to toast bread, they have been experimentally improved over time. There's no such technology for mitigating cliamte change.

tha Professor wrote:

There are several experiments demonstrating the greenhouse effect, they tend to show a far lower CO2 forcing than the IPCC's most conservative estimates. If you've found a compelling experiment for the greenhouse gas effect, that makes you believe in mitigating climate change, please cite.

Experiments are also done outdoors, but there are no experimental tests for climate change mitigation.
