I'm a diehard Sox fan,but I also like the Cubs.I just don't understand why Williams signed Griffey? Maybe is it because Williams and Griffey are lQQkalikes.Put Anderson back in center.

Once again the Twins are better in every aspect of baseball including manager and gereral manager. The Twins have a never ending supply of young ballplayers, the white sox have nothing. The white sox needed pitching so at the trade deadline the general manger got griffey because he thought it would be neat to have him on the team. Next year when they can't give away tickets it will be the fan's fault that nobody n't wants to pay big bucks to see an old crummy team. The only reason they were in first place so long was that they are in the worst division in baseball. I'ml done with the white sox maybe forever. I just hope they continue to gag on these big games, I don't want to be tempted to watch them give away post season games.

Ok, I re-read this article looking for the quotes, the actual words from Kenny. I want to see what he said. I want to know his real words of anguish. I want to "hear" the tears. No, huh? What? So all you did was see him looking around and made-up a whole conversation going on in his head that only you and he had access to? Wow, what powers! Thanks.... I think instead I'll celebrate this team and this summer! What a grand time-this is baseball. However it ends up Tuesday, I'll be there. There's plenty of time for next year after the play-offs. A blind eye, nope-just Go SOX!!!

Kenny should quit complaining. He put together this old, slow, homer-or-nothing bunch. The Sox are back to the pre-2005 style of losing baseball.
Great point! from a old sox fan!

Compare the Twins and their "system" of everyone knowing the fundamentals of Twins baseball-good fielding, situational hitting, speed, pitchers throwing strikes, sacrificing, moving runners along, and many other "little" things that win games. Last nite when the Twins came back with two runs immediately I knew the Twins would win. It is as though they know they can get on base, steal second and third, a squeeze bunt and ,voila, back in the game-time after time.
The Sox play station to station the outfielders are old and slow, Cabrera hits a ball down the right-field line and cannot get a double Span and Gomez hit to the foul lines and both get triples, easily, because of their speed and our outfielders lack of speed.
With Thome, Konerko, Dye, Contreras, Vazquez, McDougal, Swisher, Griffey, Wise, Crede, AJ, we are dead for several years.
WE have Quentin, Alexi, Danks, Floyd, Jenks and Kinebrink[?]
to build around and no one else in the entire system!
The Twins have an abundance of 20-23 year olds while ours are 24-28 and so dumb one of them breaks his hand hitting a bat in anger!
I never thought this team would be above .500 but they were there up to the end and this will cause Kenny to think we can win next year, sadly.
We cannot win until we dump Greg Walker and develop a "system" of how the Sox play the game at every level teaching, improving, reviewing and getting rid of players and coaches who cannot follow the "system" as the Twins do.
Comparing the Sox and Twins begin with comparing the GM's and the Managers, which of them would you hire?
AS Rosenberg said "The Sox are fundamentally inept."

6-1 lead and end up losing in 10. Devastating loss for the Sox, fantastic win for the Twins. The way the Twins play in the House of Horrors, they may not be looking forward to moving into their new ball park in 2010.
The Twins will be doing the White Sox and the rest of the AL a favor by moving to an outdoor ballpark. That rinky dink dome has costs the Sox more games that any other stadium. I think the Twins are making a big mistake. Some history: the Twins won WS titles in '87 and '91, both series went seven games, with the Twins having home field advantage. The Twins went 8-0 at the dome in those series. That means they won two championships without winning a game on the road. Unheard of!

I have been supporting Kenny since he has been GM but come on Kenny don't you think it is time to change the way you put this team together. The 2005 team won with a decent mixture of speed and power. The Sox have scored majority of their runs all season on the long ball. The speed guys are all on the bench while we send Dye, Thome, Konerko, and Griffey to the plate and hope they hit the long ball. We really missed Quentin's power and decent speed.

Advise to Kenny for 2009:
1. Go get 2B Brian Roberts(Baltimore Orioles) for leadoff.
2. Move Alexei to SS
3. Nick Swisher full time 1B.
4. Move Konerko for a true full time 3B or a veteran arm.
5. Let Brian Anderson, Dwayne Wise, and Jerry Owens battle for the CF spot. All of these guys provide more speed.

Who cares about how many division titles the Twins have won? They haven't won any World Series titles with the chances they've gotten while the Sox made the most of theirs. Screw the Twins.

Since 1987 the Twins have won two world series to go along with all their division titles -- how many have the Sox won? Seems that's at least twice as good to me.

Wow. Spoken like a "true knowledgeable" White Sox fan - who couldn't even Google before spewing out his "baseball knowledge." Probably the same kind of fan the supposedly "keeps score" at the Cell. Dolt.

If Kenny Williams isn't satisfied with the number of division titles the sox have one he has onlyhimself to blame. Too many time we traded young for old, fast for slow. When the team was desperate for pitching help at this year's trading deadline he trades a young relief pitcher and a young fast minorl eague infielder for nice guy, future hall of famer, old and slow with no position to play Ken Griffey, Jr. Look come see the future hall of famer with over 600 hime runs! Oh look, the Twins just pantsed us and took over first place. I'm sick and disgusted.

When Ken Williams kicks the bucket, his personal hell is gonna be watching a DVD of the Cubs 2008 World Championship season playing on eternal repeat, and he'll receive hourly "anniversary cards" Jim Hendry.

No, the DVD he'll be watching will have the grunters on this Sox team that he put together being swept by the grinders from Minnesota these last three games.

I'm not a big white Sox fan, but unlike a lot of Chicago morons I don't hate anybody. Just because I'm a Cub fan doesn't mean I have to hate the Chicago White Sox. I rooted for the 2005 team in the playoffs ending a Chicago franchises long, too long, world series drought. Just like I rooted for Boston because they had posted excellent records for years with good ballplayers, but hadn't won the big one either in so many decades. I have my doubts whether the Cubs will have teir turn this year, and end the longest drought of all, but I'll be rooting for them to play their best and smartest, and maybe suprise a lot of people, and pull it off. I would feel more sorry for the Sox collapse if guys like A.J. Pierzynski didn't act like such macho athlete stereotyped hard asses all the time, and Hawk Harrelson and Darren Jackson weren't some of the biggest blame game over the line homers I've ever heard chortle a ball game. Be that as it may, I hold no ill will for what I'm sure is at least 70% or more basically decent people on the Sox ballclub. Wish I could say the same for the rest of the baseball fan/knuckleheads across America who way too much alibi their own team's failings while hating to death on their regional rivals. Give it a rest, and go tell your wife you love her, or play more with the kids/grandkids for god's sake.

How can anyone say the Twins are that much better than the Sox, when they can't win on the road either.

Didn't the Sox play a much tougher schedule than the Twins?
We get Tampa Bay and they get Seattle?
We get the Cubs and who'd they play, the Pirates?

Jeez, I'm watching the game tonight against Cleveland and Hawk is STILL whining about "all the bloop hits" the Twins supposedly got. Get a clue! The first step toward being a winner is accepting that you got beat. The first step to being a loser is making up excuses for why you got beat. Hawk Harrelson is the absolute worst announcer in all of professional sports, bar none! You can put that on the booooooaaard, YES!

How ironic will it be if by some miracle the Sox make it to Monday a half game down, only to have Freddy Garcia (40-21 as a Sox starter) shut them down in the makeup against Detroit?

The problems:

Bad trades. When has Williams ever gotten any value out of a high-expectation trade? David Wells, Billy Koch, Griffey, a lifetime of Garland for one mediocre year of Cabrera?

Williams has come up with some gems (Podsednik, Jenks, Ramirez, Quentin) but they have mostly been shots in the dark that carried no down side.

Running good players out of town, and bad-mouthing them on the way out.(Ordonez, Carlos Lee).

The only success they had was the one year they had speed at the top of the order, great starting pitching, and a solid bullpen.(it was solid because a bunch of average guys had career years at the same time, but they were solid nonetheless)

Until Reinsdorf sells the team, they will find a way to come up just a little bit short. They were going to go to multiple world series, if you listened to Williams in 2005, but he didn't tell you they were going as spectators, not players.
