That hooks into the stereotype that athletes aren't gay. I don't think that's even close enough to be in joke territory any more.

But he probably won't knock someone up unintentionally

Pretty stereotypical on her part to assume gays don't play sports.

The chick is. She has some guy who will do anything for her, parents who can buy her anything and she comes out smelling like a rose.

No. Any body who would sit there eating a meal with an adoring admirer who is not eating is a Princess and although she smells, it is not like a rose.

Narcissus perhaps

I call bs on that whole thing.
Can you imagine a guy telling his mom..."Mom, i took Tracy out to dinner, but I only had enough to buy her something to eat. It's ok cause I like watching her chew, and I love the way she swallows."

Where did the kid get the coin for even 1/2 a dinner? If he has enough for 1/2 a dinner at a good restaurant he has enough for a full dinner at Wendy's.

I think Mom is the one with the complex.

You are probably right that Mom has an old fashioned inferiority complex or reverse snobbism or something. The kid is 19. Leave it alone and he will grow out of it.

:D Like your pic of flowers. I was thinking she was thinking she was, her bf thought she does as well as her parents.

Me thinks she's more of a cactus.

The LW is just jealous that her son's girlfriend's family is wealthy while they are struggling.

HE'S 13 FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! There's laws against throwing 13 year olds out into the street.

Except he may want to date before age 18.
This would be easier to pull off than heterosexual dating if he keeps it on the down low.

He will be stuck living with his parents for at least another 5 years and they have the potential to make his life absolutely miserable over this if they choose to. You never know how people are going to react.

That law does not stop some people, though.

Actually, you can't throw anyone out, technically, without 30 days notice (in most states).

Oh I don't know. i think by 13 you have a pretty good idea as to what your parents will freak out over.

Yeah, sad, isn't it, that some parents' love is conditional.
