Looks like another rich white man gets off and prevails because of a corrupt society!! If he wasn't rich I bet he would be in jail! They said they let him go because he donated millions to charity and had a clean record! I think that is bull! He killed her and hid in Oak brook because he knew he was guilty, If I were her family member I would sue!!

Probation and community service for what he did? He perverted the law to its fullest and got away with murder. He should be behind bars for a long long time.

I sure hope Mr. Pocina's blood, that was found inside his vehicle, was tested for BAC.
John, dried blood cannot be tested for BAC. It needs to be a sample directly from the patient and put in a lab tube. It is unfortunate, because he was more than likely drunk or under the influence of drugs. Running away makes it very suspicious doesn't it? This man is a murderer and a coward. He should be thrown in jail with the other animals just like him.

Huh? I know that you aren't implying that he got off because he is white! That chip on your shoulder must be very heavy.

The judge was paid off for sure. There is no reason this coward should have been let go. You know he is still on the road driving any way he wants knowing "money talks and walks."
To the judge, you are as bad as the people who let pedophiles out.

This story doesn't mention it, but my recollection from the time of the incident was that he was hiding out in order to avoid a breathalyzer test. I don't know if he would have gotten off tougher if he'd been charged with DUI in addition to the reckless homicide, instead of leaving the scene of an accident, but he apparently wanted to avoid that.

My question, though, is whether he still gets to keep his driver's license. Someone who could drive fast enough on a narrow side street to become airborne and crash into a train station probably doesn't deserve to have the keys to anything heavier than a moped, even if he doesn't have the drinking problem I assume he has.

But the same thought occurred to me: this is probably once situation where the civil courts may be able to do something where the criminal court couldn't or wouldn't. And apparently this guy thinks that his money exempts him from accepting responsibility as a human being; so he should be hit where it hurts him.

He wasn't jailed because he was rich and gave alot to charity and most likely the judge got his share.

to the Talmage family: please sue him civilly and get some justice. The fattest envelope rules in court. despicable beyond belief. how is reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, and manslaughter not criminal? cook county sucks.

"Wanderling said Pocina had "never been arrested in his life" before the crash and had been an upstanding citizen who had done work raising money for charity."

The Judge Thomas Tucker Foundation I am sure.

One law for Them, another one for Us.

And Republicans cry that is "class warfare" to talk about such disgusting favoritism as this.

I will remember this come election time. Judge Thomas Tucker should never preside over another trial. As for Pocina, well he will have to deal with his own demons.

Is there any word from Kathleen's family on a civil suit?

Honestly, this is the biggest legal travesty I have heard in a long, long time.

Please spread the word far and wide to your fellow Chicago-ians, and anyone else. Do not re-elect Judge Tucker.

In Cook county you can only vote on a judge's retention. A sixty per-cent no vote is needed to force the vacation of their office. Hopefully, this will be the outcome!

Agreed, Agnes. I am hoping enough people tell a friend, who will then tell a friend...

Being the daughter of an attorney, I know full well how these "agreements" are worked out and for something like this, it really disgusts me. this is literally a slap on the wrist to someone who KILLED another human being, and this excuse of a man doesn't have the manhood to stand up and acknowledge it. How brave he must be to hide for over 3 weeks and have his family and friends lie for him.

Daily Horoscope for May 22

Capricorn

Don't take any risks when handling your finances today, because there are strange things going on. Someone may not be as straightforward and honest as usual, or can't explain themselves properly, which leads to misunderstandings and false assumptions. If you're spending money, make sure you're charged the right price and given the correct change. And don't let your wallet or purse out of your sight, in case you mislay it or someone nabs it.
