Daley rips Supreme Court on handgun ban stance

During oral arguments this week, U.S. Supreme Court justices signaled their intention to overturn Chicago's strictest-in-the-nation handgun ban.

Mayor Daley is JUST as entitled to his opinion as you or I. The only difference is HE has a platform to be heard because of his office and notoriety. The media is always interested in good 'copy'.

However, in the end, what those who framed our fledgling nation believed will prevail. They had direct experience with tyrants and dictators (like Daley); most of us can not fathom what that was like, so some of us try to cherry-pick the freedoms we like and blast those we are uncomfortable with.

His answer would be just like any other progressive liberals; "Our laws have worked, it would be so much worse if we didn't have them, but to the extent that you perceive that they are not working it is because other cities and other states don't have the same kind of laws. I'm a liberal progressive and I fully support gun ownership and conceal/carry laws like we have in Minnesota.

I hate hate hate the signs businesses put up saying "Guns banned on these premises." REally? So you don't want cops having lunch at your restaurant? You don't want an off duty investigator banking with you?

What about a woman whose exhusband stalks and threatens her life. She can't keep her gun on her for protection?

And the signs weren't up before the statewide law -- so before, it was okay to have guns in your store but not NOW? That makes no sense.

I hate those signs and wish they were challenged constitutionally.

The gun owner who takes the mandatory safety/use course and who registers his handgun and licenses is the wrong person to be fearing.

Can you imagine media outrage if most politicians at the forefront of banning same-sex "marriage" went to the Netherlands or Spain or Vermont to "marry" their gay lovers? Would not the media call them out on the hypocrisy? Why does not the media call out Daley for his hypocrisy?

Both parties have bought off the media. A movie I saw back in the 90's called Bulworth with Warren Beatty seemed like a comedy at the time. It was really the truth. The democrats, republicans, media and Corporate America are all one big happy family.

In fact, it has had the exact OPPOSITE effect of what was intended. Chicago, with its 100% handgun ban, is the murder capital of the US. And I am sure they are not doing it with grandpa's old 12 guage. Daley needs to be run out of office on a rail, right along with Bloomberg.

Every time I have to see Daley whining and spazzing out because he doesn't get his way, it reminds me of my two year old throwing a fit.

He talks of common sense gun laws but doesn't comprehend the gun owners legislation that could ensure Chicago of bringing anywhere between 200-300 million annually from an increase in sales tax on firearms (which Chicago is notorious for) to City run weapons classes that would be required for carrying license.

This is not even mentioning the decrease in overall crime and a lot of citizens with peace of mind that they can protect themselves.

When you add it all up the reality is with the legalizing of guns in Chicago will have a lot more common sense than what Daley is pushing.
