It didn't take long for Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton to blink in front of the Russians. She lost a stratigic advantage in diplomacy. She put missile defense on the table before they asked for it. But when she and her boss, Gad Fly Obama, both of whom studied under the teachings of the communist, Saul Alinski, what can one expect.

Know what's missing here? The fact that Obama blind-sided Poland and the Czech Republic with a SECRET letter to Russia without consulting them. Had Bush done this, the NY Times and Tribune would be pilloring him for such an amateur, insensitive, stupid move against two of our allies. But no, Obama is being lauded for catering to the Times' long love affair with Russia.

They forgot to mention the other letter that Obama's administration sent to the people of Saudi Arabia and other nearby countries;
"Fun in the sun, free student flying lessons provided by several Florida airports - you pick the plane and we'll show you how to fly it!"
- I think this was an earmark by Senator Bill Nelson contained in the stimulus package.

It was the first and probably only thing Obama does that I approve of.If you want to restart the cold war then put missles near Russia. The Soviet Union is dead lets give it a rest. The Russians could put missles back in Cuba or Venezuala and if that happened we would be first to cry. Russia has more oil and gas than the enemy muslims and Russia is a white Christian country so why not be friends with these people?

Same tired beat-on-Iran krap pushed by Bush. Ready for four more years of Bush-lite.

Goes to show that Americans can't get beyond appearances. A bunch of empty skin suits.

Obama is way out of his league here. Putin has alot of experience in these types of diplomacy matters and he is gonna run circles around the "Community Organizer". We can only hope that the US doesn't lose too much of the strategic advantage in the process.

Quoting the article, "So far, Obama has held off on expressing his support for the system, saying he needed proof that it would actually work and be cost-effective."

It is too bad Obama did not follow this philosophy with the spending/bail out packages.

You wouldn't know it from this article but Obama just got the stiff arm from the Russkies. They said they'd talk about taking out the missiles...but only on their terms and nothing to do about Iran. Wow. Two screwups in one day. First he disses the British prime minister by not holding the usual joint press conference (see the London papers) and then Russia lets out his secret letter...which he didn't bother to share with the two affected nations, Poland and the Czech Republic. Amateur time on Pennsylvania Avenue.

1. The missiles you compare to being put in Cuba are DEFENSIVE missiles. If Russia put missile defense in Cuba no one would care

2. We can be friends with those "people". It's their dictator light government that is the problem. They continue to arm and equip people that hate us (Iran, Iraq (before the invasion, etc)

I wonder if Ahmadinejad and Medvedev have chills running up their legs...Obama "the snake charmer" has wooed the media maybe he can have a tea party with the world's leaders and there will be love, peace and joy throughout the universe...I wonder when he will cure cancer.

Why didn't he send the letter to Putin?

All it did was made Medvedev get up from his desk, go over to Putin's desk, and ask him what he should do and say next.

Kind of like Axelrod and Obama.

Best summarization I've seen is:

Let me see here...

1. Tell the world during your campaign that you want to eliminate missile defense. Make one of your first acts in office reneging on a promise to a NATO ally regarding deployment of missile defense.

2. Then, in negotiations with Russia, try to get them to influence a country (Iran) where they have no real influence. Appeal to the better nature of a pair of Gazprom shareholders to piss off a country (Iran) where Gazprom is currently the 900 lb gorilla for lucrative oil and gasfield development deals.

3. In return for your proposal to Russia? Offer to reduce or curtail missile defense, which, if they simply wait around, you're going to do anyway. Because you repeatedly say so.

Obama is so out of his league, or in his own words, this is above his pay grade.

Another example of the Obamination lying about transparency and writing secret letters to major countries that we the people only find out about through the grapevine. Does he know what he's doing? He's not a king, only a president. How is he going to negotiate defense missiles? Will he give the Russians the codes to deactivate them? He has this burning fever to attack Afghanistan and needs Russian cooperation to get supplies to his expanding army fighting the tribes in the mountains. The question is why?

Good point I saw that as well. I hope this isn't a continous issue wherein the administration sends out trial balloons to see if foreign leaders agree with the US policy! So Clinton like! If a president doesn't have firm core convictions and a sense of history of what is important to ALL Americans, then we are in great trouble. Recall JFK's words Mr. President, "Let us never fear to negotiate, but let us never negotiate out of fear." You are negotiating out of fear sir. In addition, you looked like a deer in the headlites yesterday with the Prime Minister of Britain when asked about it. No telepromter or advisors to assist I guess. God save this country from these guys...
