Al Gore is not making his money off capitalism. He is making it off government mandates. Al Gore invested in the Chicago Climate Exchange, set up to ride the wave of government mandated cap and trade. Cap and trade failed and the Chicago Climate Exchange then folded as there was no market for the exchange under a voluntary basis. NOBODY wanted it. In a free market, a product is sold to a willing consumer. If there is not enough interest in a product, the company goes bankrupt or closes down. There is no market for the green industry, as it is high cost to the consumer and very few want the product. The only way to get people to want the product is to mandate it through the government or subsidize it, which is why Gore continues to push for government intervention.
Maybe he meant to say Gore is a 'crony-capitalist'...

Another whinnnner!
Why do you yammer about Al Gore? Is it because it is a rationalization for denying global warming? That is the middle school whining telling mom that everyone else is doing it, why can't I? Or the noo one else is doing it, why do I have to? Grow up. You are not responsible for Al Gore. Be responsible for your own self. Quit making excuses.
Observations tell me that the AGW hypothesis does not live up to observations. Skyrocketing CO2, no warming in 15 years, Antarctic sea ice extent keeps growing, sea level rise not happening at alarming rates, no increase in "extreme" weather, climate sensitivity lower than thought, the uncertainties of how clouds, sun, PDO effect the temperatures, polar bear population increasing. So my rationalization stems from looking at the hypothesis versus the observations.

I believe everyone should have as many houses as they want, fly to wherever they want and whenever they want, get solar if they want, green their house if they want, use energy the way then want, ride in a limo if they want. I'm not the one telling everyone to downsize and travel less, so how is it that I'm the one whining? The one whining is Al Gore, telling everyone that unless the green movement takes over the political system, the whole of human civilization will be in ruins in 100 years. That's whining.

Fair and balanced? Better look into your denier sources. They have little creditability. Al May be a hypocrite, or not, but at least he quotes reliable sources. Not the factless denier mantra. Face the truth.
So deflect to Fox News when you lose the argument.

Why does the government subsidize anything? I think we can all agree the government needs to stop this practice.

Crony capitalism is the reason our country is so screwed, not because of free market/capitalism. But OzRitz likes crony/government capitalism because OzRitz hearts China and they know how to get things done. Who cares about a little bit of corruption and greed?

While the warming has slowed, it has not cooled back to what it was last mid century. The past decade is the warmest ever recorded. Many factors contribute this, mainly the absorption of heat into the ocean.

Antarctic sea ice is growing, probably due to the polar vortes. However, the total mass of Antarctic ice is decreasing. Sea level rise is accelerating.

Climate sensitivity is adjusted as more is learned just like other adjustments are made as better information is adapted. While there are uncertainties, this does not mean that the science is wrong. It simply means that there are small differences in the total outcome. Global warming is increasing due to additional CO2. Uncertainties may account for a few percentage points, but CO2 is the major factor causing global warming today.

PDO may affect temperatures but it does not change the fact that the Earth is continuing to gain additional heat from the Sun due to the greenhouse effect.

Of course Polar Bear numbers have increased. Polar bear populations grew after quotas were imposed in Canada, aerial hunting ceased in Alaska, and trapping and hunting were banned in Svalbard. However, the result of continuing habitat loss will indeed cause their numbers to decrease.

No matter how much you whine about Al Gore, it does not change the facts. Earth is warming. Ice is melting. Species are migrating northward or upward. The ocean is rising. To ignore the problem and its consequences is stupid.

LIAR, who's the IPCC?

You are too dense to sort out: the IPCC and Michael Mann.

The IPCC is an organization, not a person, DUH.

An organization like the IPCC can only win a prize via the work of people like Professor Michael Mann. Al Gore is singled out because he did not do the IPCC work. That's why the IPCC and Al Gore for the prize.

P.S. The tiny denier is never correct!

How would you know? There has never been free market/capitalism and there never be. Why? Because it would destroy the total economy of any nation. Those with the most marbles would never be happy until they had all the marbles. The market must be controlled.

Just wondering......if man made co2 emissions are destroying the world, does anyone wonder, and hope, the devastation could be delayed or averted if the government shutdown could last a little longer?
Saw an interesting analogy by a expert Business commenter on tv. He said this reminded him of the Disney animated film fantasia where Mickey (the Republican party) conjures up a spell that inadvertently brings on the demon broomsticks (The Tea party) and they can't be stopped. Only the sorcery can stop them and the Republicans have run out of sorcerers , McCain tried, even Bonehead has tried & they need someone like Reagan but there is no-one.

Agree, otherwise there would be only one Bank to go to, one newspaper to read, Walmart for all our shopping and God forbid we would all have to watch Fox news for our information.
