What is the “middle?” The progressives have moved the bar so far to the left, that the old middle is now considered the “extreme right.” There are no more “blue dog” democrats. The progressives just keep pushing their agendas (under the radar) to extremes and telling us they are in the moderate position. For example, they are pushing their transgender positions. Massachusetts and California have now passed a law that any child who feels that they have sexual identity issues can use bathrooms, locker rooms, and changing areas for the gender with which they identify, but those transgenders who are not comfortable doing so should be provided with alternatives, such as a unisex or nurses station’s bathroom. But transgender students cannot be denied access to their preferred bathroom or locker room because of other students’ discomfort. The law is for K-12. But if my daughter feels discomfort with a boy in the bathroom or locker room, she has no rights. Does it make me a homophobe or a hater if I don’t want my daughter forced to use a bathroom or locker room with a boy? Does that make me a right-wing extremist? In San Francisco, they have approved tax-payer funded transgender surgeries for the uninsured. Colleges around the nation are increasing the cost of health insurance to students to accommodate transgender operations that cost 50,000 dollars. Does it make me a right wing extremist because I believe tax-payer health insurance should not cover these kinds of procedures? Are these kinds of things the “middle?” Since when did it become the middle that it is perfectly fine for the government to make laws about soda intake, salt intake, fat intake, dictating to restaurants what food they should serve and how much? That’s the middle? And when it did become the “middle” that abortions after 20 weeks are perfectly ok for any reason?
If you would take the time to read (and if you have the intellect to comprehend what your read, which I doubt from the hysteria evident in your post), you will see that I said, "And there is the matter of the Democrats letting their own urban-based left wing keep on doing things that reinforces the siege mentality that has taken root among rural people." Substitute "Christian Right" for "rural people" and you have the same message.

For your information, the middle is where the middle has always been. And, yes, there are still "Blue Dog" Democrats, lots of them.

I see you are still deflecting. Do you have daughters? Would you be okay with your daughter changing into her gym clothes or showering with boys? Are you okay with taxpayer-funded transgender operations? But true to form, you won't answer these questions, you will just make the messenger out to be an extremist, even though what is being passed as laws in this country are not the "middle" but the extreme.
I think you should watch a few episodes of "The Newsroom" it might give you an idea how the term "American Taliban" came from, a label that I posted myself after this Tea party movement appeared from nowhere post Obama's win in 2008. It's a good example of a story that is picked up on some right wingers blog and run with as thou it was fact. Do you have any factual evidence that a transgender child showers with girls when they are actually male other than on paper it might be allowed to happen.

Besides tell me how this any different than the local catholic priest taking a bunch of young kids on a camping trip. I might baulk at that before worrying about the shower block with my kids.

There is also one important point here that just seems to fly straight over your head. Where is that kid likely to be persecuted the most in the boys room or the girls room. Now go away and think about that and also think about the threat someone would be who wants to be the opposite of their gender! Do you really think some over charged hormone teen boy would don a dress every day to school just so he can make out with the girls! Please give me a break!

Hey, Caveman,
If you can break off the fight with ritedownthecrapper long enough, take a look at this article about the Farm Bill that the House passed on Thursday and let me know what you think.
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/201...
For everybody else, this has relevance to the climate change debate too. They basically ripped out all incentives for farmers to install alternative energy technology on their land, buildings, etc.
What do I think?

Let me ask you instead; why am I not surprised?

So are you telling me transgender boys would be the only boys "persecuted" in the boy's locker room? What about the fat kids, the skinny kids, the nerds, the geeks, the boys who are late developing? You don't think every boy in a locker room has self-image issues? You don't think there are any other boys who have dreaded going into a locker room and being made fun of? It sucks, but it's life, kids can be cruel, but that doesn't make it right to protect just one type of self-image issue. I have a 12-year-old daughter and I know the last person she wants in a locker room with her while she is changing clothes is a boy. I don't care if the boy thinks he is a girl and this isn't about whether the boy wants to make out with my daughter. It's about my daughters age and stage of development and seeing a boy naked in a locker room is not something she is ready for. If you are arguing that this is appropriate then I proved my point that the middle has gone far to the left.

Any religious viewpoint such as yours has to deal with the fact that GOD doesn't interfere with the REALITY of the problem. At least, not to my observation. And these sort of ideological dogmas are rarely defined except on an 'us vs them' partisanship.

"Self-determination" was a liberal phrase in the 60's. The John Birch Society interpreted it as meaning a country would be able to decide if it wanted to be democratic, communist, socialist, or monarchical. Conservatives want to control that.

I believe in limited government, as well. I don't want the government telling me who I can marry, what I can smoke, what I can discuss with my doctor, and what I can do in the privacy of my own home. Conservatives want to control that.

People who hate government usually try to hide all the income they can. I'll bet you're not paying your "fair share". Some believe that the rich are taxed too much, conservatives want to control that, with the trickle down idea that hasn't worked in 30 years and smells like urine.

I'm not Catholic or religious so not sure why you brought that up as I would never send my child with a Catholic priest anywhere.

So I pass on the information that the state of California and Mass pass a law stating transgenders can use whatever bathroom or locker room they want to and now I am considered the American Taliban for posting that. Whether they take a shower together or not, the law is in those states that all other children don't get the same treatment as the transgenders. If they are uncomfortable or feel unsafe having the opposite sex in their bathroom, their discomfort is of no issue, as the law states this:‘discomfort is not a reason to deny access to the transgender student.’ But yet the law was made due to the discomfort felt by the transgenders. How is everyone being treated equally in this situation?

I got this from Glen Beck and his 'conservative paradise' planning.

In this he specified everything from where shops would be located to how you were supposed to feel on gun control. Everything precisely defined under the idea of 'freedom'. You were free only to act as HE decided.

Yes, they accuse liberals of desiring a nanny state while turning a blind eye to all the things they feel they need to control.
