It was a mistake to call it global warming because of ppl such as yourself who cannot grasp what it means when you have a sub zero winter. But its never about that one day, or week its about mean temps rising but more important ocean temps rising, ice melting and the result of that is CLIMATE CHANGE.
But the facts are mean temps all over the planet are increasing, and weather comes from the oceans. Ocean levels rising and low lying communities coming under pressure. Like a 1 deg increase in sea temps in the gulf for instance can mean the difference between a cat 1-2 storm changing into a category 5. THAT'S CLIMATE CHANGE!!!!!! Man has the tech to address it but like gun control the ignorant just can't get their heads around it.
I forgot you radicals have changed "Global Warming" to "Climate Change".

Once it was determined the globe was actually getting cooler you had to pick a different mantra, Climate Change.

So now when ANY massive storm occurs, and they occur every 10 years or so, it can be blamed on Climate Change.

If this wern't so laughable one might believe it.

Energy retained, due to man-made GHGs, causes excess energy to build in Earth's biosphere. This excess energy often moves towards the North Pole, causing Arctic temperatures to rise, stunningly. Simultaneously, the cold Arctic fronts are vigorously pushed to the south, causing abrupt cold weather patterns in populated, more southern regions.
Often the cold snaps, people experience, are preceded by warmed Arctic stoppage of sea ice freezing & even winter lose of sea ice. Seems like the Arctic is affecting southern human populations right now! The NP & SP are Earth's air conditioners.
Who woulda thunk et!
Well it seems the climatologists "woulda thunk et" back in 2001 when they were telling us that snow would be a thing of the past and children would only know cold and snowy winters virtually.

This is from an article from 2007:

The UK has experienced its second warmest winter on record, with a mean temperature of 5.47C (41.8F), provisional Met Office figures show. In southern England, the winter warmth set a new high, reaching 6.53C (43.8F), beating 6.49C (43.7F) in 1989-90. All three winter months saw above average temperatures, and January also recorded its second highest UK-wide temperature, reaching 6.0C (43F). "It is consistent with the climate change message," he told BBC News. "It is exactly WHAT WE EXPECT WINTERS TO BE LIKE – WARMER AND WETTER and dryer and hotter summers."

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/640...

Now this from an article in 2013:

Met Office chief scientist Julia Slingo said climate change was “loading the dice” towards FREEZING, DRIER weather — and called publicly for the first time for an urgent investigation. Prof Slingo said:“If you look at the way our weather patterns have behaved over the past four or five years, we’re beginning to think that there is something happening.

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/488...

Now you would think the smartest people in the room and who have told us over and over the science is settled would have at least known the effects of an Arctic melt, but somehow the increase in temperatures and the decrease in Arctic ice causes both warmer and wetter and colder and drier weather. Interesting.

Twisty kristy strikes again.
Past temperature variation doesn't mean that recent temperature rise is nothing to worry about- because the present temperature rise is going to continue for a long time. whether or not it's warmer now than it was in the past is irrelevant. In a few decades it will be warmer for sure- and still rising.
From the paper twisty cites:
"Continued warming to temperatures that now exceed the stable conditions of most of the Holocene epoch is likely to cause ice-shelf instability to encroach farther southward along the Antarctic Peninsula."
Antarctic sea ice is another irrelevance: an anomaly caused by warming sea water and changing weather patterns. After a few decades, sea ice will be in decline too.
Another couple of feeble denier excuses from twisty.
Of course temperatures will continue to rise until they don't for 17 years. These are predictions and no one can claim with certainty what will happen. Just as the climatologists can't make up their minds about the effects of a melting Arctic. Why is it irrelevant that the Antarctic ice is expanding? Would it be irrelevant if it were melting?

Distorted version of what I said, but essentially true. Predictive modeling is a real thing, Brainless, and is used in many fields. For example, a criminologist will use criminal behavior to predict what a criminal will do in the future, so that he can be caught. Simple examination of trends will show businesses their pattern of growth and development, and predict what will happen if they choose one course of action over another.

I'm surprised indeed that such a "scientist" as yourself isn't familiar with this sort of activity, and chooses instead to mock it in a childish way. Hardly very intellectual of you, is it?

Hmmm?

Anarctic SEA ice is growing, Kristy, not LAND ice.

http://www.skepticalscience.com/antarctica-ga...

Not sure what "..can't make up their minds about the effects of a melting Arctic" is supposed to mean, either. NO climatologist thinks that a melting Arctic is good.

http://www.nrdc.org/globalwarming/qthinice.as...

"..the contraction of the Arctic ice cap is accelerating global warming. Snow and ice usually form a protective, cooling layer over the Arctic. When that covering melts, the earth absorbs more sunlight and gets hotter. And the latest scientific data confirm the far-reaching effects of climbing global temperatures."

ONLY in the winter when there is no sun (6 months of darkness) and note the the VOLUME of ice is going down (area increase is not enough to compensate for loss of thickness)
Of course, the reasons for this change are becoming clear and confirm the basic changes of AGW.

Are you stupid enough to believe your own propaganda?

http://www.woodfortrees.org/plot/gistemp/from...

Yes, we can claim with certainty what will happen, since we have satellite observations of radiation hitting and leaving the Earth, and CO2 has reduced the radiation leaving.

It is a physical reality that the Earth will warm.

Get that through your thick head.

Ass tha Professor pointed out, Antarctic ice is melting, dumbass.

David Viner is often misquoted by deniers. He actually said the occurrence of snow would decline slowly but there'd still be freak years of much snow: which is exactly what we've observed in the UK.

http://www.independent.co.uk/environment/snow...

Snow was becoming less common until the Arctic inversions of recent years.

Yes, the complexities of climate sometimes catch even the experts out.

But contrast this with the deniers who can't even get their heads round the complexities when they are pointed out with hindsight.

Global warming means winters are generally warmer in the UK except when an Arctic inversion dumps Arctic air on us, and this is probably due to reduced ice cover in the Arctic- a result of global warming.

Only simple people expect the world to be simple, krusty.

Snow in Minnesota is certainly no surprise. Three to four feet might be unusual, but not unprecedented. But it's what is to be expected as the Earth warms up and the atmosphere holds more moisture.

Sorry, a Republican strategist came up with the idea of using climate change, instead of global warming, because it sounded less harmful.

Massive storms occur more often than every ten years or so, fool. There's the rest of the world, you know, the north and south Pacific. the Indian Ocean, and the ones that spend themselves in the Atlantic without doing much damage. You are too USA-centric to realize that. But then there was Ivan, Katrina, Betsy, and Sandy, all within an 8-year period, memory challenged idiot.

With extra energy retained by man-made GHGs, feedbacks, & 2 & 3 stage feedbacks, warm fronts have warmed the NP. Simultaneously, the extra energy sends cold Arctic fronts to the south, cooling off your beans.
