based on lack of performance , poor arrest records the Chicago police should take a pay cut of 25%.
No city in America had as many unsolved homicides as have the Chicago key stoned cops have had over the past 5 years.
But wait the poor arrest record extends even further back.
Look back ten years and there are thousands of unsolved murders, in the city.
Even the famous Perkins school for blind police training could come up with a better arrest conviction rate than that dismal record.
Facts are Chicago police can't or won't solve any of the hundreds of murders that occur in their own districts, can't or won't arrest the many drug dealers operating in their own districts.
by any objective standards Chicago police are failures at police work and should take a big pay cut.

Well CEO and all top business execs and mayors and other politicians all got raises...Why shouldnt the cops.

Surely you jest?
you want to reward police incompetence , police failure to enforce drug, murder laws , lack of effort enforcing city, state ,county drug, gun possession laws , city highest unsolved homicide rate for any city on the planet surface and you want to reward them.??
you must be a retired drug dealer, over paid union mismanager ,
or retarded police person who just got "parking ticket writers hand" from writing too many parking tickets before coffee break and went out on injury .
they should be arrested for failure to do what they are paid to do arrest murder suspects drug dealers, drug buyers.
think it time the citizens of Chicago's south side formed a union.
international brother hood of amalgamated people just tired of dysfunctional ineffective, overly expensive government. with the international brother hood of storm door repair mans local 7 3/8
our motto you can always find a cop at the local coffee shop or at the parking meters , drug dealers on any streets, and our professionally trained storm door repair men repairing storm doors damaged in drive by shooting at inflated prices and silly work to union rules which slow the process way down.
makes as much sense as giving the key stoned cops a raise

Not the cops fault there is alot of crime. Do you blame soldiers if a battle is not won????????? NO YOU BLAME THE GENERAL AND LEADERS.
Cut thew ages of chief of polcie fn mayor and Gov. and the top brass....COP ON THE STREET DOESNT MAKE LAWS OR CONTROL POLICIES.

The Unions paid good money for to buy Rahm and the rest of the City Government and have every right to demand more and more and more from their Tax Slaves.
Chicagoans were too stupid to handle self government. They ignored the Union Warning label during elections and must pay thru the teeth for that stunning act of stupidity.

Facts, reality do not support your point of view supporting pay raise for the Chicago police dept.
sickofit, understand This is not about assigning blame for the cities high crime rate but rather to point out that based on the historical FACTS, the lack of performance, Chicago police should be paid a lot less than they are today. they are not earning what we pay them now.
Facts are Chicago has had the highest rate of unsolved homicides of any city in America for the past 20 years. that means the Chicago police past, retired, present on duty officers have not been proactive solving homicides, aggressively arresting shooters, arresting drug dealers, drug buyers. why is that??
Look it up it is a matter of public record and everything is on the net if you just take the time to do da research.
you might be surprised to learn than over ten thousand murders , homicides have gone unsolved in Chicago in the past 20 years.
That's a whole lot of unsolved crime.
drugs are all over the south side of the city, little or no effort made to track arrest drug dealers, buyers, buyer car by tracking license plates numbers. shooters almost never get arrested why is that?
no city in America can boast of such a poor police track record.
Chicago police deserve a pay cut for inability to do what we pay them to do.
Chicago should get drones over the hood or blind police.
drones see everything day or night blind police pay attention to detail in a way the Chicago police don't seem to be able to do.
Bet police cadets from the perkins school for blind police in Boston could do a better job of solving murders arresting drug dealers than Chicago police have been doing.
the twenty year track record of inaction by chicago police to address and solve the problem speaks volumes about what wrong in da city.
can't reward job failure, problem solving inaction, lack of job performance da numbers speak volumes

This has nothing to do with "fairness" or job performance. If the citizens had wanted any representation in City Hall or Springfield they would have elected politicians who cared about "fairness" in public employee compensation.
Chicago voted to bury their children in wildly excessive Pension Legacy debt. It isn't fair to blame the Unions for taking advantage of the political ignorance of Chicagos voters. It has been endemic in Chicago City Hall for decades.
It could be worse, The elected Democrats in California super charged thousands of public employee Pensions using a device termed "Pension Spiking" to defraud current and future generations of California's Democratic voting majority families. Read that again. See, Illinois could be worse. That should even make even Chicago parents feel a little better about themselves.

let the Chicago police go on strike, it won't make a difference in death rate or dent drug sales.
Chicago police have a 20 year track record of not solving homicides or reducing drug sales arresting sellers, buyers.
so them being on the job or not will not change anything. let them go on strike forever.
we can hire the police cadets from the Perkins school for the blind in Boston, they could do a much better job of solving crimes and arresting those involved.

well, we can't blame the PTA, librarians guild ,the perkins school for the blind police men , or the Lithuanian historical society can we?
The police are hired to protect and defend us, investigate crimes solve homicides arrest drug dealers, curriers, buyers, and shooters.
As Chicago public records show there hasn't been much protecting with over 500 people shot killed in 2012 , very little if any investigating going on based on the several thousand unsolved homicides in past ten years. gee that is a really lot of unsolved cases isn't it??
with all the drugs being moved on the south side of the city there have been too few arrest of dealers or buyers who drive through da hood with cars.
Guess the Chicago police haven't learned how to run license plates through the computer to find addresses of buyers and arrest them. or perhaps the over paid underperforming police want over time to use the computer.......
there is no one to blame but the inept dysfunctional Chicago police dept. they should be ashamed to be police with such a poor record of protecting defending the public.
based on performance they are over paid by 25%. Chicago should get Perkins school for the blind in Boston Ma to provide real police men for the job.
#10 Feb 11, 2013
Let them go on strike, they can hire new people, it should be a rule that if your a city worker then your kids have to attend city public schools, if not get a new job and someone that cares about Chicago get the job, 12% no way
#11 Feb 11, 2013
They're still after "The Fugitive".
#13 Feb 18, 2013
arm law abiding citzens and you won't need all of those cops one thing is sure your gun control don't work.
#15 Feb 18, 2013
WHO TELLS THE COPS WHAT TO DO?????????? How about we cut the pay from the top....Bet things will change fast. Cut the pay of cops and no one willw ant the job and soon you will want to offer them double when chaos runs the streets.
COPS CAN ONLY DO WHAT THE BRASS LETS THEM.....CUT WAGES ON THE BRASS......Like I said things will get fixed fast then.
