Crime will be going down shortly in Chicago now that the Supreme Court has given us our rights back to own handguns in the city. Now not just the criminals will be packing heat. I look forward to the next burglars visit to my home. Bang, bang!! One less criminal.

At least Daley is acknowledging the problem and trying to do something about it. Minneapolis has the same problem but the bleeding hearts are in control and just wring their hands. If Blago really wanted to help his administration would have contacted the city to work out a feasible plan. But he did the typical headline grabbing blather with no follow up.

Although I think Blago is the worst governor in history and has let Illinois slip into a quagmire of failing at every level (his legacy will show that he has allowed the few successful state programs we had to join the failures at the bottom; just to be equal), his political handlers may have given him an idea worth exploring here.

Certain parts of Chicago are worse than Baghdad, and the criminal elements (home grown in the 'hood) have to me controlled or the tragedies of children killed on their way to school by gangs will continue. A "surge" may finally do some good (but, may also drive the criminal elements to the suburbs and other parts of the state).

The smarmy days of considering gangbangers "victims" of the lack of parenting must be over. It is time to be tough. I applaud the mayor of Lynwood for his call to ban "gansta wear" in his town, as he recognizes it hurts local business and development.

If America focused more resources on energy, crime, and a consumer based domestic economy (as we have in Iraq), life would be better for decent citizens.

"nobigdeal"....sez da mare. Publicly.
Privately this man is seething.
"Da Man" almost blew a carotid over a children's museum for God's sake!
Has he ever been wrong? About anything?
Not only Hizonner, but the whole gang.
Honestly though, there is only so much preventing the police can do.
In my opinion they are really only responders to our calls for help.
We need to take charge and patrol our own property and neighbor*hoods*
Thank you,
The Admiral.

It is no big secret that Daley and Blago can't stand each other. I just wish that for just one time, Daley had shown a little more moxey and pretty much told Blago what he could do with his idea. But I am more than sure that was more than expressed in the private phone call they had that neither will admit took place.

Anyone who thinks gang crime is limited to minorities obviously has never heard of the Dixie Mafia. They were a loosely-based organization of white criminals operating primarily out of Biloxi and other southern cities during the 1960's and 1970's.

They tried to take over the drug traffic in my home state of Oklahoma, but met their demise when a Dixie Mafia hit man named Clifford Henry Bowen, murdered three people - two of them innocent - at an Oklahoma City motel in 1980. Bowen's target was Raymond Peters - two other men having a beer with Peters (an not at all connected to the Dixie Mafia) by the pool were killed because the organization left no witnesses.
The hit was meant to keep Peters from talking about his ties to Harold Behrens, an Oklahoma City cop assigned to infiltrate the organization when they first started operating in the city during mid-1970's.
Lured by the drugs and the money, Behrens quickly was turned by the organization and became one of their main operatives in the city. Upon behren's arrest in a joint effort by Oklahoma City police and the OSBI, the Dixie Mafia became scared that Peters would talk and expose their operations, as well as to how much Behrens was involved. And so Bowen was dispatched to kill Peters.
That is just one of the group's many violent and deadly actions throughout their history. And they still exist in many southern states.
So Good Ol' White Boys aren't so innocent - remember that before you paint with such a broad brush.

"..It was mentioned in the context of the gun legislation and other components to quell the violence."

Oh, does Gov blah-blah want to pass some 'gun' legislation that will help 'quell the violence'?

Unless it's concealed carry legislation it won't be aimed at quelling violence.

But don't worry, it isn't.

Don't worry, Daley has given the Gov. a talking to and reminded him of WHO thinks WHO is in charge.

Statistically, they're just as likely as black kids. It's a lot more about the environment than the race.

So Blago and Daley will continue to try and blame the rest of the state, where murders are 1/5 the rate of Chicago and firearms are common, for the failings of his city while Weis fiddles.

Just curious... Do you live in Chicago? I thought it said Lisle... Have you been to Baghdad? Are you sure you have any basis to spout off a statement like this?? Methinks not. My guess is that you have a very fancy, expensive television that teaches you everything you need to know about the world.

Let's just be HONEST about crime in Chicago.
It's centered (the core) in the BLACK COMMUNITY, where parental responsibility has been missing for DECADES.
This is why they can make up roughly 12% of the population, but yet make up 82% of the PRISON population.
This is also where the FATHERLESS household is the norm.
Now you SHALLOW readers can fall back on the only retort your simple minds can illicit----racism. But the rest of you can see the REALITY, and formulate SOLUTIONS to the problem.
I agree.

But, even if the kids are fatherless, the cycle still continues. I've seen some of the mothers inflict pain on their kids just because they asked for something at the store. When people try to get involved, they tell you to mind your own business. It's like they are in their own world & I always feel sorry for newborns as you know what kind of life they'll probably live.

For a lot of them, it's a way of life. Take a look at the way some of them treat their kids & it's no wonder they grow up to be in gangs, etc. & then they eventually abuse their own kids & the cycle continues.

Why do most of them think inflicting pain on their kids is ok? The cycle only continues. They see & do what the parents do & then do the same thing. It's so sad.

Too bad it's not the law that people should have to take parenting classes when they have kids. Explain to these people what's right & what's wrong.

But if you bring up the subject, right away they accuse you of being racist. They are in a state of denial.

There are over 13,000 police officers in the Chicago police Department to provide police services to the city of Chicago and there are about 1,500 Illinois State Troopers to patrol the entire state of Illinois. The Illinois State Police is a fine organization but the bulk of their officers are traffic cops. What is Blago proposing, that Troopers from southern Illinois be sent up to Chicago to patrol Cabrini Green?

It's so much fun to watch the little emperior and Ferret Face Blago react to each other. Their both so corrupt and incompentent that you have to just laugh at them and especially at the Illinois idiots who put them into power.

I can't wait to see everything implode. What a fantastic show this is going to be!!!
