So I wonder how Scott is celebrating his last day of freedom for the next 5 plus years. Maybe a fine bottle of wime? Oh that's right, it is all gone! I did hear that he gave a lot of the wine, along with other things, to a friend who had loaned him a lot of money, which of course would have been illegal under the bankruptcy laws, and I can't imagine that he would do such a thing. Anyway, Scotty, enjoy your time away, making new friends and relaxing in the sun. One tip - don't drop the soap!

Today is July 22, 2010, and just three days ago Scott Toberman turned himself in to begin serving a 4-5 years sentence for embezzlement. I came to work for EAR at he site in Buckhead after the big fiasco; most of the employees had either quit or were fired, then accused of stealing. Stupidly I believed that this man was innocent. From the employees that remain, I had heard the stories, but the man I was working for did not appear to be the self centered bastard that I had heard about. But, oh how things changed. First, an accountant was discovered to have alledgedly been stealing money by transferring funds from EAR's bank account to his personal account, and marking it as insurance payments. Now from reading one of the previous blogs, I wonder if he wasn't set up. Second, There were several of the buildings (11 S.Laselle, our complex in Buckhead and Complexes in Tampa and Orlando) were experiencing severe money problems. The young lady serving as CFO could not make a move without obtaining permission from an outside investor. I mean she couldn't write a $20 check without obtaining authorization, it was weird. Third, Scott continuously told the staff that he was not selling, and their jobs were secure. That was a big fat lie. In February 2006, many of us, were informed with a freaking letter that the company had sold our offices/complexes and it would now be up to the new management to decide if we would remain on staff. I personally spoke with the F**king SOB and he promised that he was not going to sell. What a liar. Many of us had the hardest time trying to obtain unemployment because the bastard did not pay taxes or Unemployment insurance. From what I was told by one of his assistants, one day after she was frustrated with his foolishness, that EAR owed almost half a million in back taxes and Unemployment payments. Fourth, when I finally got fed up with all the foolishness, I tried to contact that assistant back to find out what was going on, found out from the new assistant, that the assistant before her had quit, because he treated her badly and now the a**hole was saying that she stole from him by using his credit cards. Fifth, while on the phone with the new assistant, who was at a point she wanted to quit, informed me that she recently had discovered paperwork that he not only had his former Assistant of eight years, Virginia, investigated, but was accusing her of stealing, and suing her. This guy is a piece of work. And, please let's not start on Beth Toberman. I know Beth, and she was fully aware of EVERYTHING, this a**hole was doing. No doubt. I am not sure who turned on the young lady Lisa, but every employee that worked for this man should 'thank her'. It took guts to do what she did and I congratulate her.

He is in a federal prison in South Carolina not Alabama. I think for anyone going to jail gives you a lot of time to repent and feel bad for what one has done. For him I think he made a big mistake. His children and wife are the ones affected by it. He has 2 boys and a little girl (I think she's around 5, the other one around 8-9, and the oldest definitely 12 this year). The thing that bothers me about this whole story is definitely how family is affected. Yeah yeah I know a lot of people where hurt and suffered because of him but at the end of the day people get what they deserve for the things that they do. But in this case I feel that the ones affected need to let go and let God like they say. To me (who has seen children suffer because of their parent's bad ways) hurts me to know that they won't be spending time (from what I have heard he was very closed to his boys) with his children and specially his little girl.

I feel for his children and that they ended up with the parents they did. His wife knew he was stealing millions and helped him spend every penny. They are lucky she isn't in jail too.
Don't forget when you are lecturing people that the choice to steal the money and put his children in the position they are in was Toberman's decision. I practically begged him to stop and he just kept stealing. There is nobody to blame for the family's circumstances but Toberman himself.
He did hurt a lot of people... more so than you will ever know. Why don't you show some concern for those people? Lots of innocent people were hurt and they did not deserve it any more than those children did. Those children are Toberman's responsibility to care for and it was his actions that put him in prison.
I will never believe that he is sorrry for what he did. If he was sorry he would be making restitution to the people he stole from and hurt, but he isn't he is still fighting and trying to hurt them more.
Tell me this... how does a man whole stole millions get a tax refund of almost $80,000? People are supposed to report on their taxes that they stole money and pay taxes on it. Then instead of giving it to the people he hurt, he fought in court to keep it. showing once again he doesn't care a lick for the people he hurt or have any remorse for what he did. He is a scumbag and pathalogical liar. The kids would be better off with some good people as parents who deserve children, but people don't always get what they deserve.

He also sued innocent people just to hurt them... did you forget that or did you not know. Cost them a fortune defending themselves against trumped up charges. Did those people deserve what they got?????

You would have to ask the courts why he isn't paying restituton. My point was basically that if he felt sorry for what he's done, he would at least attempt to pay people back instead of fighting it every step of the way and costing them more money.

The only reason he admitted anything was because he had to to save his butt. He and his lawyers knew we had him and he would get convicted. His last minute attempt at confession was lame.

Somehow, when he gets out, he will lie his way right into a better financial life than I've managed to have with him in my past. Difference is I won't lie about it.

I'm very happy and have a great life, but my career will never be the same. I knew that when I sarted this journey. I am happy and at peace with my decisions. He had to be stopped and personally, I am glad I stopped him.

May be I'll be ready to write the book soon. I needed to let it go for a while. It was what I lived and breathed for years.

I am sorry to those that got hurt, but I refuse to take responsibility for it. Almost everyone who worked in the corporate office knew what he was up to even if they didn't want to.

Anyone know status on Scott? Is he still in prison?

You can check any federal prisoner using the Bureau of Prisons website. Just Google "BOP inmate locator".

Tobes is in medium security federal prison in Estill, SC, with a projected release date of March 11, 2015.

I sorta knew him in college. I think he slept with about half of a floor of a girl's dorm before they figured out his character. At that time, a favored ploy was the "wounded heart" number.

Sorry I missed this discussion as it occurred, but my tidbits pale in comparison.
