True. But we WON!(You really are such poor losers.)
What did you win? Higher Taxes, Higher Cost of Goods, Higher Unemployment, Government Takover of Industry, Increased Government Control.

What exactly did you win?

Nobody won....we all lost! You are just too stupid to know it yet.

If 127 of the students in this girl's graduating class were admitted to the U of I that year, evidently she ranked 128th, at best. That suggests her class rank was no higher than 128--and probably lower, if you allow for the handful who got in to other selective schools like Cal Tech, MIT, NU, the Ivy League, etc.

Maybe with all that money from their chocolate business, her dad could have afforded to send her to a private school where her scores would not have precluded her from admission.

As another poster put it: she got into U of I by CHEATING. Cheating someone more qualified out of his/her spot.

Totally corrupted state, church, unions, schools, media.

Even when I golf at George Dunne National golf course there is always a long wait because Stroger ,Daley or any of their minions can just cut in front of the non-connected.

Looks like the Trib is looking to fill pages with meaningless stories again. There has to be more important things happening in this city. How about writing something bad about Periaca for once?
Of course it's meaningless to you Democratic hacks cuz you've got your greedy paws in every taxpayers pockets, and are at the root of most every scandelous corrupt scheme occuring in Illinois. But to us "unconnected" people we are deeply interested in newspaper accounts of how your kind of "ilk" infest our state gov't like the pack of rats you are.

WHY are priests fund raising for scum? Do they NOT have enough work to do for God? Has everyone heard the gospel clearly? Is no one in need in his church? Could the money this so called priest fund-raised not have been used to spread the gospel to the unreached peoples?

I'm glad one applicant recommended by the aide of a prominent politician gets front page treatment when our esteemed state senators Jimmy Dileo and Michael Madigan are getting completely undeserving kids in by the boatful.

Yet another step in Madigan's plan to take over this state.

All ethnic groups use this practice. Jews, Chinese, Indian, Anglos, Irish...the list is long.
Those with money get what they want.
Those with connections get what they want.
So what is new.

I feel like I'm reading the New York Post, all the Tribune looks for is trash. This is a story about a non story. No one involved did anything wrong. The "Watch Dog" just needs to sensationalize things to try to sell papers. The Trib should be ashamed of itself for repeatedly smearing people's names when it's not justifiable. Even worse, is that we don't have critical readers in this city and so many of you easily believe what you read.

Pat Quinn needs to clean house, but he won't. He used to a crusader, now he has turned into a political hot air bag. As far as
Linda Katehi is concerned, of course she knew about Catagory 1
admissions or if like she claims she knew nothing, then she is totally incompetent. Either way, she does not deserve the position in California.

It is called Pay to Play. Giannoulias is just the latest dirty hack to be uncovered. Glad the citizens learned who he really is before he rose too far.

Cupid Candies. Good work.

Was there a bribe involving Giant Chocolate Tortoises?

I want to see the video of the director of admissions with her chocolate smeared ignorant maw completely denying any wrongdoing.

How many melt-aways did this cost?

My alma mater is a bad joke getting worse.

As a college student who has had to work, except for the Priest this really does not seem important. Seems like the Trib is milking this for more than it is worth.

So Alexi goes to NY to raise money from wealthy Greeks. Says quite a bit about who he sees as his constituency. Surely not the taxpayers of Illinois.

And the story show exactly how he works. Give him money and his staff does some favors for you.

Maybe we can call him Alexi Burris

"Neither the student nor her father could be reached for comment. Her father has not made a personal campaign contribution to Giannoulias."

If they thought this story was important enough to put on the front page, I am glad that I don't subscribe to the Chicago Tribune.

Nothing in this story imputes any knowledge or wrongful conduct on Mr. Giannoulias. I don't like the guy, but this story does not show any misconduct on his behalf.

Why are we supposed to care that an aide who wrote a letter on behalf of a person who has NEVER doanted to Alexi's campaign?

Mr. Zemenides wrote a letter of recommendation for a qualified student. Why are we condemning Mr. Zemenides for doing something that each and every one of is permitted to write?

So if you are associated with a politician in any way, you lose all of your rights in this country?

While I am fed up with the cronyism and the corruption we are facing, there is NOTHING illegal in this story.

Great job, Trib!!!
