Looks like the Trib is looking to fill pages with meaningless stories again. There has to be more important things happening in this city. How about writing something bad about Periaca for once?

Opaa!

Nice to know yet another statewide official is dirty.

Brings a whole new meaning to Giannoulias' "Cash Dash" program.

I wish all these people would make a list of constituent services which are available for a fee. I want to buy some favors.

We need a special class of laws with exceptionally harsh consequences:

Obstruction of Democracy

Trying to swindle elections, by giving away taxpayer services for your personal campaign.

This happens everywhere-Gradeschools, highschools, companies. Who cares. Why don't we fucus on the school's limited budget, courtesy of our state government. Let's investigate the state reps and senators that keep cutting the school's budget.

Either that, or let's see exactly what the Black Market price will fetch.

Let's auction U. of I. seats online. Successful bidders still pay all tuition and fees, plus the 'vig' to get in.

Since Giannoulias is Treasurer, he gets to hold the money.

1. So agues this Endy Zemenides is still another one of those lawyers who can entertain us by insisting that he practices law and not influence peddling and backroom fixes.

2. Since churches get tax exemptions and other special privileges, it is nice to know that they and their clergymen are not involved in improper influence peddling and arranging illegal backroom fixes.

3. I am sure that the U of Illinois will promise to "reform," and which will mean that much less of its future illegal backroom fixes in arranging admissions will be put in writing and e - mails, and much more will be done completely verbally and therefore with much less of incriminating written records.

4. It could go to a system of choreographed charades so as to continue admitting those who have politically connected sponsors. For instance, it could add oral interviews to the admissions evaluation process, or at least for those who request oral interviews, and therefore the politically connected could be given skyhigh ratings in their performance in the oral interview, or other subjective and easily manipulated criteria could be added to the admissions evaluation process.

This is not a meaningless story, nor should it mean everyone is "dirty." The way up for many of us (our families--over many generations and in many ethnicities) has been through building political "clout", aka political power. Now, given Illinois' rich history of political corruption, we need to rethink building political coalitions.

Clout has become a verb, and an ugly one at that. It indicates a very sorry state of affairs. I would like to see the Trib and other media take this on with us, voters, taxpayers, citizens.

Okay, the Irish do it, the Hispanics do it, the Blacks do it, the Polish, etc etc-it doesn't touch Giannoulias so what's the big deal.

Even though ,"A spokesman for Giannoulias' Senate bid said Thursday that the treasurer knew nothing about the admissions inquiry," are these not the words, often heard, from our wee mayor? The tiny little man is rarely as eloquent as Alexi "Rich as Aristotle" Giannoulias' talking head and no one was called "Cuckoo, Cuckoo," but the "I don't know nuttin'" defensive is getting pretty old around here. Bye, bye, Alexi. Instead of your "slush fund" money being used to purchase a senate seat, perhaps you can use some of the dough to fund a CPD school and retain a really good lawyer too. Oh, and did all these "clouted kids" get free tuition, free room and board and other "free" stuff" that some of us thought we would only see in our dreams? One more thing Alexi, shouldn't you reimburse the taxpayers for the all the costs of that really nice junket that you took with Dicky Durbin last summer? Greece wasn't it?

Wonderful idea! Let the U of I auction off "Honorary Degrees" in Clout. Hum... we might be on to something that might help Illinois' money flow. Time to call in all the clout markers!

Point being--it touches all, it is a big deal. Time to call for an accounting and a new day. I think you have misunderstood my post. sally

Isn't this the same Alexi Giannoulias that took money out of College funds to buy a fancy state SUV ?
Sounds like a typical Illinois Politician. He'll never get my vote for anything.

let the system work. If I were rich and I wanted my kid a
maybe, better life or education. WTF = I would give it!
And, if you were poor and found a way you would want the same thing = right?..... so! what would you do?

Find a Way.

a Billion dollar guy in his 90's donating so some
kid gets into college.

the only bad side is the" University" who decides.

Focus on those people in admissions to make results.

anybody no matter how rich or poor who want s any... any... help for their kid in education is OK regardless of Power, Influence, and MONEY.

So much for this Greeks Senate bid. Any more trips to Greece for Durbin with Giannoulias? I doubt it. His name is coming up time and time again on the wrong side of what appears to be right.

He's dirty...
