How in the world can you call DSBG a " charity"?! Amazing.
Secondly - why 800 crammed in homes? How about a nice destination spa that will preserve the beauty of the land and generate income and garden traffic? This decision is purely motivated by greed, not the sustaining of the garden. be honest.
The land has been sold; talk to the new owners.

The Tides Foundation is a charity. A left wing group of know-it-alls that would love to help you get your protest started against this disgraceful situation. You could call it Occupy Seven Oaks. They can hook you up to people in NY to help battle the realty company there and help with stratgies against the planning and zoning board and city council here. They and all the eco-groups in the area should be able to supply the media with plenty of destructive fodder to thwart the plans of these evil entities. Just remember, you are the ones building a better world for all.

...even if it means the majority and future generations must suffer.

You are woefully uninformed. To begin with, this plan averages about an acre a lot. How big is your lot? Secondly, just read Robert's post again. If the money isn't going to sustain the Gardens, then pray tell Della Mae, just where is it going? I'll say it again. This is just the I got mine but you can't have yours mentality. Talk about greed.

Unless there was an existing right of way for the road, you should be able to challenge them to pay fair market value plus moving expenses.

I would start with a letter and see what response you get. Mention that you plan to consult with an attorney if not satisfied.

I'm not sure what Gazette editor wrote this headline but he/she should have read the entire article. There are 670 acres total of which 23 will be commercial and 10 will be a park. That leaves 637 for residential development. Some acreage will be used for infrastructure, i.e., streets and sidewalks probably close to 30 acres so that leaves 607. The lots will be close to an acre each, hardly a dense development, which would provide land for 600 houses at most and most will not be lakefront.
