I am reminded of Eleanor Roosevelt's quotation:

Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people.

Do you really know him ? How about his angry side? Need I elaborate?
Okay. I'll bite. Go ahead. Elaborate. Please.

I know nothing of Mr. Griffin except he answered my questions about the farmer's market by phone. But if he was awarded the Mount Holly Man of the Year award, why would anyone feel malice for this man? To be bestowed that award, you have to have a good heart and be smart/ambitious enough to do something to put that "good heart" to work with something tangible.
I'm just saying!
you are such a pretentious phoney.

The question is will you be able to meet at the City Café this weekend to get the ball rolling for the fundraising for a statue of Scott Griffin?

If so, give us the time and day you would like to meet.

Thanks Scott L.

And you, Mr. Einstein, have such a reputation for contributing such grace, such dignity, such insight into this forum, it's a wonder how our community could thrive without your contributions and thoughtfulness. I mean, it's clear to me that my church does not prosper as much as it could because we don't have you preaching your wisdom from the pulpit. I completely understand how you have been overlooked in the Mount Holly Man of the Year. And I'm so disappointed that your children do not socialize with mine so that I can point to them and tell my children, "See Mr. Einstein's children. That's how I want you to be when you grow up." And then I turn to my graceful and beautiful wife and think, I wish you were half as lovely as Mrs. Einstein.

I'll just have to keep treading water in my puddle until I can be fortunate enough to run across you in real life someday.

Have a great Humpday!

And for you, Mr. Flagger, please define the context in which you use the term "phoney" (sic). I'd like to respond to you as well but I just need a little more context to your comment before I can respond.

Seriously, perhaps we could rename Rankin Elementary, Griffin Elementary. After all Scott Griffin in 1997 was the NC Teacher of the year, he taught for 37 years, he laid out a year so he could come back and make double his salary, but what difference does that make?

Or perhaps we should change the name of Mount Holly to Mount Scott Griffin?

These are just some suggestions as it doesn't appear anyone has any good ideas for a statue.

Make a statue of the first Mount Holly Man/Woman of the year. Then put a plaque of the names beneath it. That, I would support.

Thanks. I have no bones to pick on this board. Just saw the attacks on a friend and it set me off. You, however, never have anything derogative to say. I appreciate that. It is best for me to not view these boards at all. Most contain pretty much weaker intelligence anyway and it becomes tiring to argue with stupid.

Thanks, Mr. Flagger. I'd like to add to a critical mass that would improve the intelligence and quality discussion in this forum. As such, I'd encourage you to do the same. Eventually we'll outnumber the ones with innate knowledge of puddles and such.

Hysterical, let's reserve statue for our veterans and maybe give Scott a plaque or metal for being a nice guy.

I might support this, but one of the Mount Holly Man of the year was Todd Wright, the former First Presbyterian Minister, who was also a big Mount Holly Rotary Club member, who almost tore that church apart single handedly.

Yes, there are many, many, many well deserving Men and Women of the Year, but this guy is not one of them. I still can't ever see how he got elected that honor. Really, his winning, besmirched the name of the award.

Know why I call myself Einstein? It's because I'm smart. I push around a non-working lawnmower promising people I'll be back to cut their yard as long as they front me the $50 upfront. Who's smart now?
