Dietz & Watson won't exit deli case quietly

High-end deli meat and cheese maker Dietz & Watson is launching a Charlotte-area offensive to protest Harris Teeter's decision to replace its products with the Boar's Head brand, highlighted by a blind taste test uptown Thursday.

I have yet to buy a Dietz & Watson product that did not go bad in less than a week.

I think Harris-Teeter is making the right decision here.

You are sooooooooooo wrong. Dietz and Watson makes the best deli meats you can buy. They totally won the taste test at the epicenter last week against the inferior brand, boar head.

The answer is simple: Sell both! Period. And if one packager is so arrogant that they make threats, then it's clear THEY are the ones who should be dropped.

I have bought and eaten both brands of their deli meats. I strongly prefer Dietz and Watson.

It depends on the product. I like both. Dietz and Watson smoked ham is better than Boars Head but Boar's Head Salami is a lot better than D&W. They are both considered premium brands however I was glad to see Harris Teeter start carrying BH

Dietz and Watson is much better than Boars Head IMO. I tried the BH roast beef and it wasn't even rare and there was no taste. Very bland. DW Homestyle Turkey is also juicy and yummy while BHs comparable turkey was dry and so-so.
Boars Heads bully-like attitude disturbs me as well. I won't buy their product anymore because of that, if nothing else. Lucky for me DW tastes better! LOL

Maybe your deli is keeping the meat too long if its not getting sold. I have never had any Dietz & Watson deli product go bad quickly.

When we first came here from Florida we looked everywhere for Boars Head products and could not find them, so we tried Dietz & Watson a few times. It was so inferior to Boars Head that we finally gave up. Last year Holly's Deli in Marion opened and sold Boars Head product, we celebrated. I'm glad to see someone else breaking the D&W monopoly in this area.

d and w is better on some things...boars head on some as well...they are both very comparable....so if i had to choose i would have to go with the company that isnt so corporate...from what ive read boars head makes supermarkets only carry boars head...if they were so sure theyre product was the best than let us choose...also boars head and d and w dont have a ton of perservatives in theyre food so once its sliced u have about five to seven days to eat it....

Yes people don’t respond well without any choice in my experience. LOL I got luck on this one though I have only had Bores Head so I don’t know what I was missing.
