In 2009, police said Rawana was impaired when she drove the wrong way on East W.T. Harris Boulevard and struck another car head-on. The crash killed the other driver, 43-year-old Kim Mobley. Rawana, who was hospitalized for about a month after the crash, was sentenced to 20-33 months in prison.

The injured woman apparently was driving the wrong way, according to authorities. The crash was reported about 8:30 p.m. on southbound U.S. 321, between Brady Creek and Pinewood Road. Police say the woman was driving northbound when her car collided with a southbound minivan. The woman, who police described as elderly, was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the minivan was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
