We are moving to North Carolina in a couple years and researching which town is best.
We are looking for a smaller town ( less than 10,000 people) with friendly folks.
Any suggestions?

We don't want anymore rude, ugly, poorly dressed, mean drivers, thick accents. Stay where you are and improve yourself before you bring your family down here....we got enough of yall already

OK- way to make a good impression of your state there!
I happen to be an educated lady who dresses very nicely thank you! I have only had one ticket in 25 years and I was born and raised in this great country of ours and the only accent I have is American.

We are looking to move there because we went through there on a road trip last year and fell in love with the scenery and the wonderful people.
Needless to say I am not taking you seriously as a good representative of your state.

Any input from anyone else would be greatly appreciated.

It depends on whether you want to be near a large Metropolitan such as Charlotte or just out in the sticks. Which is it??

I'm just tellin you like it is. Many of us feel this way. We may not be rude and nasty like yall are to people's faces, but we really don't want any more yankees. So basically, I may smile at your face, but as soon as you open your mouth with your thick accent I'll lose interest in what your saying. You yanks just don't know how to be easy goin sweet people. Always in a rush, always gotta go go go. If you dress nice and are nice looking then you may be an exception, cause the yankees I've met down here and up there have been plain old ugly.

Ignore these dickheads.

Look into Asheville and the surrounding area. Crap for jobs, wonderful for tourism and new people.

Why would you tell anyone who wants to move to your state such a thing? I can't believe it. don't think I would want to visit there.

Besides the Biltmore House, Ashville is a bunch of inbread retards. Those people still drink moonshine, their kids don't go to college, every street looks like a trailer has its typical cluttered lawn with toys and junk. Ashville sucks.

We would like to move more to the southern part of the stae, and not in a metropolitan area. Maybe a town of 10,000 or less.

Wow. I have never in my life met such ignorance. You give new meaning to the phrase "ignorant hick." Judging from your grammer you never even set foot in a high school, let alone a higher learning institution. For your information, I graduated from college and have worked with the public in customer service for over 25 years. I'll bet my life savings I have better people skills than you do!!!
Oh and as far as being "plain old ugly", I modeled my way through college. And no it was NOT as an exotic dancer! Besides that, didn't you mama ever tell you, pretty is as pretty does?
You are the one who looks ugly now.
Try to live by the Golden Rule. You sound like a lonely, sad, little miserable old man to me.

I recommend that you look at Oakboro, NC. Great small town atmosphere, friendly people, close to Charlotte (30-45min), great churches, low crime and low taxes. I moved here a few years ago after passing thru and falling in love with the area.

Don't go gettin all yankee and worked up on me now. I'm just tellin you like it is down here. This is an internet blog, I'm not going to spell check and worry about my grammar. You obviously are upset at the reality of what the north is. People get so defensive when southern people state the truth about the north. People are ugly up there. People don't dress nice. Nobody says yes mam/sir. Nobody cares about looking nice to go to the grocery store or the mall. Nobody cares what other people think of them up there. It's really like yall only care about yourselves. Down here in the south mam, we actually wave to our neighbors, ask the person who held the door open for us at a gas station "how's your day goin", we make sure to be extra nice to police officers, firemen, teachers, neighbors, friends and family. Down here in the south we aren't stuck up snobs about food and wine and travel and education etc. We are what we are, just simple nice American people. Perhaps yall are so standoffish and unfriendly because a lot of you are of European decent. Down here we are American, hard working, Walmart lovin, race watchin, front porch sittin, country music listenin, southern accent talkin, kind people. Don't pretend like up north is a wonderful place to live. Yea, yall have good schools (if you pay extra for private), but do you even have a sense of community? Go to the mall and grocery store tomorrow and see how many people smile at you first. See how many people allow you to walk from the store to the parking lot (actually come to a stop and wave for you to walk because they aren't frantic crazy yankees). Just try it out when you're feeling like the north is the best, cause it aint.

The Biltmore House is owned by the nasty , notorious Cecil family of England. The Cecil's have been called the real power behind the throne of England for 5 centuries now. The red necks in the South still havent figured out that England was behind the southern plantation system and backed their puppet regime The Confederacy in the Civil War.

Just remember who won the war. Yeah, Southerners act polite but anyone ever have the misfortune of meeting and dating a southern belle? Holy god what a degenerate life form that is. And they learned it all from that degenerate southern culture.

Southern belle's are polite, look beautiful, smile at everyone, will talk to anyone, have class, sit with their legs closed, don't curse in public, don't roll their eyes, don't make smart ass remarks, know how to dress and do their hair, raise polite children, keep a clean house, try to set examples for their children, never honk and give the finger to other drivers, and always make you feel right at home...ahhh it's good to know that I'm around nice people.
