East Charlotte: Pizza driver shoots, kills armed robber

“In the last several years, we've seen robberies go down. Our drivers don't carry more than $20 in cash on them. A lot of business today is done by credit cards.”

A driver for Domino's Pizza fatally shot an armed robber Tuesday as he was delivering a pizza at an east Charlotte apartment complex, Charlotte Mecklenburg police said.

Demetrius Jerome Wright, who died at the scene, is one of two people who allegedly tried to rob the delivery man at the Green Briar Apartments, off North Sharon Amity Road, police said.

The identity of the delivery man and specifics of the case were not released.

Investigators say the incident occurred about 9 p.m. at 3555 Spanish Quarter Circle, when two suspects approached the delivery man with a gun and demanded money. Read more

Probably soon, I was fired from Domino's of Erie, PA for fighting off a mugger.... Management states that "The only correct action in this situation is to give the person what they want" I thought the guy wanted an ass kicking, apparantly he wanted money. That's easy for management to say, because their money is insured, my tips weren't.

And then folks wonder why their addresses are off the delivery list. I can only guess that Demetrius Jerome was a fine, upstanding pillar of the community with no priors. JK- he's a Crip! And a crappy one at that. Really, even the gangs have to laugh at you when they ask "where you get your cheez yo" and you tell them you robbed a pizza guy. I'm sure they laugh even harder when you get pwned by a pizza guy and your other two friends run off and leave you for death. They laugh hard like I do. Another piece of human feces outta the way so the rest of us can try and enjoy a little bit of life. Bravo to the Pizza Dude!
