From what I've been reading lately, meat is not as bad for you

the best. And of course moderate drinking is better than being
a teetotaler. Mixed news, but a hamburger now and then is
okay.

Looks like Ivan's has succeeded in giving Afghanistan away.
I feel sorry for those guys, most of those people came out and voted when they had their first elections, under threat of being killed by terrorists, and of course, Obama threw them away like so much garbage, for political convenience.

The same message will apply to democrats.
The Afghanistan debacle now will also be another bullet for Republicans to use against democrats.
I said a long time ago, those who possess no faith, can't fight those who do, successfully.
The false believers in the Muslim world will be brought down not by liberals worried about global warming and gay marriage, but by the real believers, the ones left in America willing to die for what they believe in, amen.

NC Governor Pat (Gomer) McCrory just signed a law making it illegal for anyone to tell anyone what chemicals are used in fracking. If home owners find out , then they will know what chemicals to test their drinking water for and will be able to make a legal connection to the fracking companies which will contaminate their drinking water, rivers and streams . We just cannot give NC citizen Joe Homeowner a chance to recover the losses from the foreign gas companies which he is pretty much sure to suffer as a result of fracking . Protecting out of state mega corporations is much more important than some NC citizen nobody. So I will not say that some of the 700 chemicals used are:

Obama has been a foreign policy disaster--no new wars, fewer dead Americans. Let's hope for a GOP victory in 2016 so we can go back to sticking our noses where they don't belong, start a few new wars, and kill some more Americans.

Muslim terrorists are a small minority of Muslims, so there's not much sense in worrying about what five Taliban guys are going to do. Let's get out of this briar patch and stay out.

Still paying for the mistakes of the WORST PRESIDENT in US history....George W. Bush & his insane cabal.

The Fall of Mosul and the False Promises of Modern History
By Juan Cole | Jun. 11, 2014

The fall of Mosul to the radical, extremist Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) is a set of historical indictments. Mosul is Iraq’s second largest city, population roughly 2 million (think Houston) until today, when much of the population was fleeing. While this would-be al-Qaeda affiliate took part of Falluja and Ramadi last winter, those are smaller, less consequential places and in Falluja tribal elders persuaded the prime minister not to commit the national army to reducing the city.

It is an indictment of the George W. Bush administration, which falsely said it was going into Iraq because of a connection between al-Qaeda and Baghdad. There was none. Ironically, by invading, occupying, weakening and looting Iraq, Bush and Cheney brought al-Qaeda into the country and so weakened it as to allow it actually to take and hold territory in our own time. They put nothing in place of the system they tore down. They destroyed the socialist economy without succeeding in building private firms or commerce. They put in place an electoral system that emphasizes religious and ethnic divisions. They helped provoke a civil war in 2006-2007, and took credit for its subsiding in 2007-2008, attributing it to a troop escalation of 30,000 men (not very plausible). In fact, the Shiite militias won the civil war on the ground, turning Baghdad into a largely Shiite city and expelling many Sunnis to places like Mosul. There are resentments.

Those who will say that the US should have left troops in Iraq do not say how that could have happened. The Iraqi parliament voted against it. There was never any prospect in 2011 of the vote going any other way. Because the US occupation of Iraq was horrible for Iraqis and they resented it...."

It's the fault of the Catholic church, evangelical "missionaries" and American Right Wing meddlers.

Decades ago this country was warned what the threat of unchecked population growth in third world countries would mean. It meant situations just like the one we now face. All over the world masses of immigrants are flooding into wealthier countries. And yet the idiotic Catholic church and Right Wing faux-Christians stick their big nose into other countries' business teaching poor people it is a sin to have an abortion, or...even, incredibly enough, use birth control.

It's insanity of the worst sort. It's not the parents' fault. They just want their children to have a better life. And they are willing to risk anything for that chance.

Yes, it's politicians' fault.....RIGHT WING politicians who courted the foolish pro-birth non-thinkers who have absolutely no common sense.

That's right, pro-birth, not pro-life. Because all you have to do is listen to those RW hypocrites now. They don't give a damn about those children's lives or any children's lives after they've FORCED those children to be born.

It will only get worse. The evil religious know-it-alls have woven their web of global doom.

The Republican Party proved that they had no intention of ending abortion from 2001 to 2007 during the Bush administration when they controlled both houses of Congress and had 7 or 9 Supreme Court justices on the Supreme Court appointed by Republican Presidents to overrule Roe vs. Wade. They want to continue to keep abortion as a political issue to keep fundamental Christians and other RW's voting for their stance on abortion although they have no actual intent to end it.

Uh oh. Looks like NC Gov. McCrory and the republican legislature have reason to try putting the State Bureau of Investigation under administrative control instead of judicial control. There is the small matter of top republican leaders being under investigation for “contributions” from internet gambling and video poker companies. Squeal little republiKan pigs squeal.
