Ben: What is ridiculous is the republican legislature wasting their valuable time, at our expense, on such stupidity as possum dropping when they should have been working to improve the economy. Equally moronic is your claim that the NC republikan possum dropping law and activity in Tallapoosa, Georgia has fixed the NC economy.
You miss the point entirely. I care not about possum dropping. The animal cruelty people would go crazy if they had witnessed how we used to trap, kill, skin, tack the skins inside out on little boards for drying and sell the hides of possums for 10 cents each. They were used to make fur coats in those days.. Today, I wouldn't harm a possum for $500 because I don't need the money, and I thank God for the bounty with which I have been blessed. But what really aggravates me is the mindless stupidity of our republican legislature.

On the other hand, you have to be impressed by the stupidity of senate dems, who changed the senate rules to"simple majority", when they have a real chance of losing the senate majority in 2014....

Definitely not a smart move. Just like republikans, they are trading short term gains for long term losses.
Democrats suppressing contrary thoughts, republikans suppressing contrary facts and attacking large groups of voters.. The general public focused on social ideology while big money buys legislators and legislation to financially rob the middle class. Uneducated uninformed voters, corrupt politicians and big money controlling the government by playing both ends against the middle.. The insurance companies and medical providers making the US government their subsidiary. A bleak picture but somehow I am optimistic, maybe like the kid madly shoveling out stables because he thinks with all that horse shit, there has to be a pony in there somewhere...

THE FDA already made us their bitches. You may not know, but Australian and American scientists have REVERSED the ageing process in mice.If the POWERS THAT BE don't crush this story, cause it to disappear (so only billionaires and the political elite can have it), this could cause fantastic chaos, as researchers say that it is entirely possible for HUMANS to benefit from ageing reversal...has to do with signals in the mitochondria .....

I wonder if legislators were sitting around bored and said "Let's legislate on opossum dropping". No, I think not, now the question is WHY did they do that and WHO demanded they pass a law? Now if I were a betting man, guess who I think the majority of the "opposition" were and what party they belong to? Care to take a guess? William "Bill" Maher, Jr He serves on the board of PETA and is an advisory board member of Project Reason". Go figure. MY point is legislators don't do this crap by themselves. Someone has to push the issue.

I agree with this with the caveat that someone has to push the issue with payments to the legislators.

Potential republican presidential candidate Rand Paul wants to totally eliminate retirement pensions. I now all the retired seniors and near retirement workers will be thrilled to learn of this republican brain fart.

Gus Deeds didn't just 'get hurt'. He stabbed his father and then killed himself. A tragedy in any family where this happens. I congratulate Murphy in addressing the tragedy into a potential law. Obviously, the root of the gun problem is how to get guns out of the hands of the mentally ill as well as curtail other acts of violence through a proper treatment system. I hope they will continue to find solutions where this can become a reality. I think they are moving in a much needed direction.

Before he was NC governor, Pat McCrory worked for the law firm of Moore and Van Allen.
Chase Burns, illegal internet gambling tycoon, "gave" over $500,000 dollars to NC politicians, mostly through Moore & Van Allen
Pinocchio Pat received a large portion of that illegal internet gambling money but claims to have no knowledge of that.
Curiously , NC has no law which would prevent politicians from receiving money from illegal enterprise.

I support any effort that will improve the current mental health system in making it more effective in treatment for the mentally ill, especially for those that are prone to commit acts of violence.

Money for the mentally ill in NC has been dried up by republican legislators. Kind of like drying up money for books in public schools and drying up funds for women clinics because they provide birth control. If we pretend a problem isn't there, maybe it will go away. Then we can award more tax breaks to the rich and raise taxes on the middle class. Better hope you are not going to buy a mobile home in NC. On Jan 1 the tax increases several thousand dollars from 2 percent to 4.75 percent with no cap on the tax. I do not need a mobile home, but some folks out there do need them. Thanks republican legislature for raising taxes on the poor so you can give tax breaks to the rich..

Do you even read the things you post?
January 2009--JOBS LOST- 818,000---------- November 2013 JOBS GAINED 203,000

January 2009--U6 unemployment 14.4 ---------November 2013 U6 unemployment 13.4

Exactly how do you figure the economy loosing 818,000 jobs per month is better than our economy GAINING 203,000 jobs? Translation into yankee--- Whatsamatta, you's brain dead?

I think he was asking for opinions. But, if you count the people who have given up looking for work, the unemployment figure is in double digits.Stats can be misleading.
