<quoted text>Arent you the good little liberal! I have no problem with Spoon or anyone wanting to jump in the conversations but for you to coddle someone because their feelings got hurt is classic! On this thread, you have to earn your keep, no one receives a participation trophy....although it appears as if you're trying to hand one out!
Thank you, Pro. Maybe you consider liberals much more courteous to people and also giving them some background info on why they were initially being snubbed. I am in agreement with you that I consider liberals to be much more courteous or,empathetic maybe a beter description. Also, I like you attempt to get the subject of 'semantics' off the table. Diversion is a strong conservative quality that I have noticed while being on Topix. I don't think it is a tactic that any of you will ever abandon. But, anyhow, again thanks for your compliment in my posting to Spoon.

You aren't a perfect judge of anything or anybody AZ.Like most liberals, you have no problem passing your moral judgments down from on high.Guess what Z? You aren't any better than anyone else on this forum.

OK. Understood. The point I have been unable to convey is that local LE grossly overreached when they started threatening to shoot down aircraft. Local LE have no authority for such an act and to do so would have been a criminal act on their part.

I'll leave which criminal agency is responsible for what, to the lawyers.I also think its a good rule of thumb, to stay away from sensitive installations. The world is a much more paranoid place than it used to be, as more and more, the impossible becomes possible.

And neither have I claimed to be. I just state an opinion that I feel strongly about. If you feel that it is passing "moral judgements from on high", that happens to be your problem. Not mine.

Topix is an open medium.Anyone can get on Topix, anytime.Topix is not controlled by any one person.having said that, each and every one of us has the"right"to respond, or not to respond, to any other poster.I intend to exercise that right.

What you do is no problem of mine.I will say, your opinion of Pro is probably your"problem", by the same token.

For some reason, the interceptors were ordered to stand down on 911. NORAD was totally and completely incompetent on that day and only that day. High speed jets off altitude, off course, no transponder and communications lost and ATC notices nothing? There is something seriously wrong with that picture. Let a 150 mph Cessna pilot get off altitude 200 ft for more than 30 seconds and ATC will be on them like stink on pig poop.

More misconceptions. Cross country flying isn't like CB chatter on the highway. Radio communication on a non flight plan cross country without flight following are typically limited to the airport traffic area (take off and landings). I cannot imagine the pilot would have anything other than a 25 mile radius handheld or even a reason he would even have had his radio on outside airport traffic areas . Without an engine with an alternator, he would typically use his batteries carefully. "Losing contact with the ground "in a glider means not being able to SEE the ground. Not having radio communications is a normal non event.

Fleming was familiar with the post-9/11 notam that advises pilots to avoid flying near facilities such as power plants
Two views, though similar, the second one finally said it. The guy knew it was inadvisable to fly over. Oh wait, he's special and just one time wouldn't hurt. PS After reading the first article, you failed to mention that the guy had lost contact with the ground. The lady that owned the tow co. was asking everyone on handhelds if they knew where he was, because he wasn't responding to his radio.

Ok please Arnold. "Courteous" is that how you think you have talked about some lady named Gail that may or may not exist? You excoriated the lady until I was afraid I'd find her hiding under my bed at night and then you want to lecture others on being courteous. We all "snubbed" Gail due to your insistence she was crazy, liked black, liberal men etc, etc, etc, and now when we become suspicious you read the riot act. You're on your own with "Gail" now and stop the whining every time somebody goes off on you calling them "Gail."

I agree with that. So one would think that if such an installation was sensitive, it would be important enough to be marked as such on the map.

Daily Horoscope for June 19

Libra

Going shopping today? Then don't be surprised if you splash out on items that are that little bit different from your usual purchases. For instance, if you set off for the supermarket you might end up buying lots of exotic ingredients so you can experiment with them. This is unlikely to get out of hand unless you're feeling bored or fed up, in which case you'll want to spend your way out of your current mood.
