I respect the man's intelligence. He's obviously smart because he was 4 star general and former chairman of the joint chiefs which is no easy task. But I and several others disagree with his perspective and opinion on Obama and Obama's handling of our country."

I showed respect Mike. You are just trying to bait an arguement.

No one denies that this country was founded on christianity. We have become a melting pot of all relgions. So we have two choices either take the word God away or add the names of all gods that are worshiped in this country. This has nothing to do with being communist. I believe in God. I am not a communist. My argument all along has been since we have taken prayer out of schools and the tem commandments from court houses we should also take bibles out of court rooms, the word God off our money and take the word GOD from our pledge. To leave the word God would be to show favoritism.
I agree with everything except your first sentence. America was founded by mostly Christians, but that does not mean our government was founded upon Christianity.
The two are very different.

Example. If one is a Christian, and opens a gas station, it is not be definition, founded upon Christianity.

Our government was founded upon the ideas of secularists. Philosophers who were separating their religious beliefs with how a government should operate.

Also, it can be debated how 'Christian' some of the founders were. Most consider many of them to be deists.

There are no principles of our government that can be called 'Christian' and only 'Christian'.

You can disagree with his opinion all you wish, but trying to diminish his credentials and experience is disrespectful and just factually wrong.
Powell was in charge of quite a lot. You claimed he was not in charge of "jack shit". That is just factually wrong and disrespectful.

Powell clearly dedicated his life to serving our country. You clearly disrespected that service.

Is it not double standard to take God away from schools and courts yet leave him attached to our pledge and money? I do not have a problem with it one way or the other. I am sound in my beliefs. Allah, buddah, Lucifer, etc, etc do not intimidate me.
We remodle old homes every day, changing foundations, walls, etc. It is the same house but only made stronger by the changes.
The main reason I want it removed is not because I am offended, but because it sends the wrong message of what America is. America is a secular nation. Our government is not run by a god. It is not supposed to endorse belief in a god. It should remain neutral in religion. Simply injecting the concept of god, reduces the governments ability to be religion neutral.

What offends me is, the currency is not being religion neutral. The pledge is not being religion neutral. It is taking a side.

No, it is eliminating the ones who have no trust in a god or gods from being respected.
Note what the constitution says about respecting the establishment of religion.
Your suggestion is opposition to the beliefs of millions of Americans. This group is growing fast. Why keep acting as if we are not part of America?

Why not? Do you know how many gods are believed to exist by Americans? Hundreds. And if you are being all inclusive, you then must include non belief. How do you propose to do that?
I understand if you have not thought this through.

Well, that is your opinion and you are entitled to it. We all know you were trying to infer and/or imply something completely different. And because I showed facts that went against your assertations or implied idea, you spin this nonsense up because you were wrong and can't admit it when you are.

Scientology does not believe in gods. So you would still be excluding them.
If you cannot include all Americans in your slogan, then rethink the slogan.

<quoted text>If the pledge is to be about liberty and freedom, we should take god out of it for sure. Why? Injecting god into the equation is forcing your superstitions upon others. Thus they are less free to refuse worship. Freedom of religion includes the freedom to not worship if one chooses.
The ideals of liberty is not what the ten commandments condones. Some of the commandments demand worship and certain ways of worship and certain days to worship. Thus, your god is not exactly promoting freedom of worship.
I can see you cannot comprehend the fact, your ideals conflict and contradict. Our founding fathers knew better, thank goodness.
Your kids can pledge to a god, that is their freedom, just do not expect the government to mandate it or shove it upon non believers.
Your kid can pray in school all damn day if he wishes. Just do not disturb the class by doing so. Do not expect the government school to ask anyone to pray to your superstition.
I said we can change it Mikey.

Clearly Taxpayer still does not understand the ideals of our founders.
If you attack the government with force, you should be dealt with like a terrorist. I would think if liberals tried to forcefully take over the government, you would want the same.
Clearly you aware it is mostly conservatives who want to forcefully take over our government.

I know of only few who are in the military that believed in the ideals of liberty and freedom. Most were there for a job and have no concept of these ideals. They can easily be convinced the government has the authority to suspend the constitution and use their force against us. Especially with the Patriot Act and the anti-American propaganda they are being indoctrinated with 24/7. Even government employees are subjected to this hatred of Americas.

I would not pledge to this as I would not pledge to the one religion fanatics demanded.
