I wonder if Jamie Fraley's disapperance is related to Irina's??
I find it interesting one lovely young lady is dead and another is missing in the same County.

Were search dogs used to track the person or persons who killed the girl?

You my friend, are an idiot! Think about the type of crime this appears to be and ask yourself who fits the profile. Probably a dude just like you!

This kind of thing affects me in a profound way because my daughter is a college student about her age. Here are my observations:

1) The Goodwill and Jackson's Java are only a few miles apart. Irina had no apparent reason to leave the university area and drive another 17 miles or so to Mount Holly. So It seems likely that her killer crossed paths with her at Jacksons Java or soon after she left.

2) There was an obvoius attempt to hide the vehicle. This appears to have been hampered when the car hit a stump on the river bank. Both doors were left open on the drivers side. The killer probably tried to remove her from the back seat and place her in the water.

The killer is very likly someone who knew her. Random killers don't usually make any attempt to hide thier victims. Hiding the car and her body was a way for the killer to buy some time for himself. The killer probably left the scene on foot.

The killer was probaly familiar with the mount Holly area. Killers usually go to an area they are familiar with to dump the body.

Did Irina have any friends or aquaintances that were from the Mount Holly/Belmont area? I hope the cops are doing thier job!

TonyMo...The list of college girls murdered by filthy hood rats in the last year includes Eve Carson, Lauren Burk, Laura Dickinson, and Channon Christian...and most likely Irina Yarmolenko.

Hood rats often prey on single, white colelge girls for rape, robbery and murder. That's the plain truth.

Freddo...In the cases of Eve Carson, Lauren Burk, Laura Dickinson and Channon Christian (including her boyfriend who was also murdered Christopher Newsom) these killers tried to "hide" their crimes by either burning the vehicles, burning the bodies, using bleach to hide DNA or in the case of Laura Dickinson tried to make it look like a "natural death." They didn't take these individuals to a secluded area that only "locals" know about and leave them.

I agree with JJ I believe in the case of Ira he or they were trying to buy time.

All of the evidence was left there....the car, the body and other material items. As in the prior 4 murders these "hood rats" as you like to call them were ignorant. It doesn't matter if they were wealthy honor students, athletes or dirt poor what they did was grotesque and unhuman!

Thank you all for your comments. This is something we need to do to fight most crime, not specifically happened to my sister, in case people want to leap to judgements about how this comment pertains to the case.
I believe that until we all get up and reach out to the poor, crime-ridden neighborhoods, tragedies like my sister's murder will be frequent. Sure, we can be afraid and concerned for the safety of our loved ones. Sure, we can take preventative measures... But the bottom line is that we have a problem in our social fabric. The only way we can fix it is to help some of the people who want to climb out of poverty to do just that. I've been thinking about how much time we all waste lately, and if we just put 10 minutes of our off time into helping our community instead of watching TV or playing video games we can make a world of difference. Ira really knew how important this approach is... I didn't, but man, was she right!

I'm sorry for your loss and my prayers are with you and your family. As a female in the area I am terrified. I don't know if I should be constantly watching my back (which I already am) or what to do. I don't feel like the police are giving much info on what to do, who to look for, where to avoid. Who do you think did it?

Pavel - First and foremost, I want you to know that there are thousands of people like me who are both extremely saddened and outraged over Irina's senseless murder.

We also came from another poor country and we grew in a "poor and crime-ridden neighborhood" here in the US. We were frequently targeted because of our race but we worked hard, studied, and maintained our property while many around us did not.

Our parents, both janitors, loved and cared for us with little money. But that, and the values they instilled helped us succeed and stay away from excuses, drugs, crime, and handouts.

With all due respect, it is naive to believe that we can reduce criminal behaviour with more handouts. That's a liberal lie. Fifty billion dollars was spent on social programs in LA between the Watts riots of the late sixties and the 1992 Rodney King riots. How much did all of that money help? Nothing. It made the dependence on government even worse.

Poverty is not the reason that people murder innocent college girls.

It agree - it's not poverty, it's a moral crisis in this country. My family came up poor but they had character and morals. I know lots of poor people who do not commit murder.

It appears to me Irina's killer may be what we call a organized killer.
Organized killers are little smarter than a disorganized killer who leaves alot of evidence like in the Eve Carson and Lauren Burk cases.
Assessing Irina's crime scene it appears her killer was in the bask seat and force Irina to drive to the very secluded spot where she was found. The killer may have spotted Irina at the goodwill store and observed her go to the coffe shop where he waited by her car for her to return. The killer may be homeless and may have slept under the bridge at one time near the crime scene. That would explain how he's familiar with that remote area. You can bet Irina was targeted for sexual reasons makeing her murder a sex crime. The jet ski's most likely prevented the killer from sexually assaulting Irina. Robbery was probably also on his mind.
Irina should have dna evidene under her fingernails and their should be a good chance of finger prints and other trace evidence in and on her car. One young girl missing another murdered in the same county. Both appear to be organized and that tells me something.
How do I know they are organized?
Because disorganized killers do not try to hide the body. They leave the victim where they kill them. Disorganized killers usually live near the murder scene. Disoragnized killers leave alot of evidence like in Eve Carson's case and Lauren Burks. Organized killers may not live near the crime scene and leave very little evidence. They usually despose of the bodies in remote areas 10 to 20 mile from the abduction site. This is what happened to Irina and possibly Fraley.
Pavel, I'm very sorry for your loss. Always remember the blood of Christ gives Irina ever lasting life. I lost my little sister years ago in a traffic accident. In my opinion the killer may be connected in some way to the Goodwill store.

Ummm Hummm, I see we have another woamn missing in Gaston county. Jennifer Rivkin from King Mountain.
So now we have Jamie Fraley missing.
Irina Yarmolenko murdered and would be missing if not for the jet skiers.
Now I read Jennifer has been missing since May 4.
Poof just disappeared.
Folks people don't disappear unless someone takes them!
Sure sometimes people don't wont to be found but this doesn't seem to be the case in these missing person cases.
IF these cases are linked Gaston County may have an organized serial killer at work.
Remember oragnized killers leave 3 crime scenes.
No.1 where the victim is abducted.
No.2 where the victim is murdered.
No.3 where the victim is found.

You all that aren't from around here should see how many Mexicans there are. I'm not being racist or crazy, I'm being honest. As a female I am afraid of them, especially the way that they are always in packs "don't speak English", and stare. They really do stare, and if you don't believe me you must be either A)really really really ugly or B)A male. I talk to the lady who works at the goodwill store and she said that a few months ago they had a Mexican that rear ended a girl and when she got out of her car they tried to attack her or something. You should see the crowd that goes to that goodwill store. A few years ago, before the flood gates opened there were only rednecks that went there. Now, everything is written in Spanish, the voice on the overhead is in Spanish, and they are all runnin around the store. Again, I'm not racist, I'm just afraid of someone that is undocumented in this country. When you have illegals runnin around, not getting arrested for things they should be you run into a hell of a lot of problems. If I were the police I'd try and look at the surveillance tapes of the gas station in front of the store. Also, the ATM (credit union) she was at is tucked away and really shady looking, anyone could be back there. I wonder if the person was in the back seat of her car. She appears to be a smart girl..my point is why didn't she scream? Did she know the person? Did they hide in the back of her car? All I know is as a female I am disgusted with what is going on around here. I don't feel safe, and I don't feel like criminals are handled the way they should be. Please don't respond that a white man or a black man could have done it...I'm only suggesting an alternative to the politically correct "Anyone could do it" response.

No, I do not think the police are doing their job. They are not following up on any leads. There has to be some kind of lead. I also heard they are wanting to close the investigation in 2weeks. OVER MY DEAD BODY! They have told the public not to be scared. How can we not be? They have not said if they brought dogs out, they have not said if they looked under her nails, they have not said if they have looked at the DOT cameras for I85 to see if someone was with her, they have not mentioned much. I understand wanting to keep as much confidential as possible, but her family needs answers and friends and residents as well. This is becoming a phenomenon. GASTON COUNTY, NOW IS YOUR TIME TO SHINE AND FIND THE KILLER. DO WE NEED TO CALL JOHN WALSH with Americas Most Wanted? How embarressed would Gaston County be that with all the technology today, this type of crime cant be solved. I know many people who have walked Irinas last ride. There has to be clues. And no suspects? Swallow your pride Gaston County and ask Mecklenburg County to help you with the forensics. And if you dont want to do it, theres many frustrated and discusted neighbors that will help you. Please dont stop here. We need answers. My first thought was a construction worker that was working in the neighborhood. If you have been to this area, you know that whoever killed her had to know the area back there. Also, I think someone made her drive to the area and they sat in the back seat according to the newspaper of how her body was laying. I also think she was alive until actually reaching the riverbank. Although, many of us could specualte what happend, we dont know the truth and that is what it will take for this community to rest and gain trust in our law enforcement. Until we have answers, we are here for the family and friends of Ira. May god bless your souls and know you have many people praying for you and helping to solve this crime.

I think Irina's killer noticed her at the goodwill store. Set up on her when she went into the coffee shop. When she returned to her car he blitz attacked her and made her drive to the remote locations. It appears he was in the back seat by evidene of both doors being open. The killer didn't have time to sexually asault Irina because of the jet ski's. In my opinion he would have put her in the water if he had time and drove her car back to where ever he needed to go and left it. Irina's car would have beeen found but Irina would still be missing like Jennifer Rivkin and Jamie Fraley IF indeed these cases are linked????
One thing for sure Irina was murdered in Gaston County and two other women are missing from Gaston County in the past two months.

One more observation. Jennifer Rivkin was driveing a BMW and it was found 2 days after she went missing in the parking lot of night club in Gastonia. According to the club owner Jennifer did sign in at the club on May 4th. That means someone was driveing her car and may have had it for 2 days. Irina was abducted on May 5th police should be checking cameras around the Goodwill store for that BMW. Possibility the cases are connected and the killer was going to drive Irina's car back to the abduction site to pick up the BMW or drive Irina's car for a few days until she was reported missing. I suspect our killer is placing the bodies in lakes (water) in order to destroy dna evidence.

I'm a friend of Jennifer's, in fact, she gave me my first haircut as my mom has been a lifelong friend of her's throughout school all the way til now. Jennifer is quite possibly one of the best people you could EVER meet, not to mention talented. This makes the case all the more tragic. She has a great head on her shoulders and wouldn't put herself into such a situation. Drug problem or not Jennifer is not the type to get into a car with random people. The case sounds really shady to me. I think someone knows something. The people she lived with (described as a friends), the owner of the BMW (described as a friend's), somebody needs intense interrogation. Correction to Sam's comment above. The bar owner said she did NOT sign into the club. And the car was parked FAR away from the club where no one parks to go there, on a rainy night with the sunroof OPEN and her purse inside. I don't rule anyone out in this case, including the cops. Some people know to much about crooked business and end up getting eliminated because of it. It could be anyone, but either way, she has a son and 2 very loving parents who need her and miss her. We all do. If ANYONE has ANY leads please contact authorities and ENSURE that investigation takes place.

You mentioned drug problem. Did Jennifer have a drug problem and what kind of drug problem?
I live in Texas all I know about any of these cases is what I read in news reports and we all know how they can be wrong at times.
So the sun roof was left open and it was raining.
I hope Jen and Jamie are a live but I fear foul play. Gaston County has a population of less than 200,000. I find it strange all of sudden two women are missing and one is dead in a matter of 2 months. The cases may not be related but on the other hand they could be connected. One thing for sure Irina was murdered by what appears to be an organized killer and 2 other women are missing.

JKMO8-I stand corrected. I meant to say Jen did not sign in at the club my mistake.
Sorry.
Folks these type of cases are hard to work.
In Reno Nevada they have a serial rapist/killer.
Search Brianna Denison.
The killer takes the victims panties as souvenirs. Police have his dna at 3 different crime scenes but can't match it to anyone. Police have ran the killers dna thru CODIS (dna data bank) with no match. Obviously he's not in the system. The killer has been laying low or maybe he has moved to a different area near a college. He likes young attractive (slim) college girls with dark hair. He could be anywhere and Irina was a college student with dark hair attractive and slim.
I'm not saying he's in your area but people need to be aware he could be anywhere. That's how I stumbled across these cases. I'm looking for cases that may have the same MO. Organized killers may move to different areas to avoid detection and they follow media reports.
IF Jen & Jamie cases are connected and that's a big "IF" and "IF" their remains are discoved they will be discovered in bodies of water or remote isolated areas 10 to 20 miles from the abduction site. Just like in Irina's case. I hope police have dna evidence in Irina's case (fingernail clippings). We know one thing Jen & Jamie have vanished and that doesn't look good to me.
