Since this seems to be a popular site, I want to get the word out about driving on interstates. It continues to piss me off that people who are not passing anyone stay in the left fast lane. They should move over right and let traffic pass. I know speeding is wrong, but if someone wants to pass you on the interstate... move over people to the next lane. If there is no one to pass you shouldnt be in the fast lane to begin with!!!! I should never have to pass someone who is on my left when driving on an interstate! Lets help to get the word out to those who dont know!

No, its not that I have road rage, bc I dont tailgate, flip people off, or slam on brakes like other people do. But when it is rush hour here on the interstates, a person going the speed limit or below in the fast lane is dangerous to all. I have seen people on their cell phones just not paying attention to their speed and slowing down and not realizing it. I pass someone and get over, and when i look in my rearview and see someone behind me, if I can get over, I do.... i just wish everyone else drove the same, thats all!

Interesting that you blame the law abiding person for being dangerous. And your solution to make it safer is to get out of the speeder's way. If safety is your concern, seems like people should obey the speed limit.

And the traffic laws!!! There are signs posted everywhere that state "slow traffic keep right".... and people pay no attention to them. You know the problem is bad! Dont tell me you have never encountered a person just cruising in the fast lane holding up traffic. Then some get irritated and this COULD CAUSE road rage. Like I said, I dont have road rage, never been in an accident and dont piss people off on the interstate bc you never know what will happen (if they have a gun or what?~!?) Just simply obey the traffic laws! If you are not passing, move right!

NC girl I am with you on this. This is why I have introduced legislation that would make it legal to "gently tap" someone's bumper who you feel may be going too slow. It would also make it legal to bump the left rear corner of elderly drivers bumpers who take too long to make right turns when you are behind them on one-lane roads. This would help them in making their turn as well.

An idiot like you.

Some people do things on purpose just to piss people off on the roadway! And thats uncalled for. Most of the time, the people I see going slow in the fast lane are people on their cell phones, out of town license plates, and the elderly. Traffic is supposed to flow. It doesnt take a genius to figure out that all 5 lanes should not be going the same speed.

I don't want to misunderstand your point of view...so please correct me where I'm wrong. You believe that the signs about "slow traffic" even applies to people that are driving the maximum speed limit in the left lane. It is your belief that these signs are an implicit legal permission for people that are breaking the speed laws to honk their horns, flash their lights for them to get out of the way so they can continue breaking the speed laws?

I never mentioned anything about people honking their horns or flashing their lights. I dont do this, but have had it done to me. Not everyone in the fast lane is speeding or breaking a law. I am simply saying if you are not passing move right. If you are not passing anyone, there should be no reason for you to be in the far left lane. Hence the name "passing lane". And I have constantly stated, even in the first entry, that "if you are not passing anyone to move right"... I am not condoning speeding, its not right, but people choose to do it, and may get caught. If you are oblivious to this fact, tell me now.

Well theoretically, if no one was breaking the speed laws, a person driving the maximum speed limit in the left lane would have no reason to move to the right lane, as no one should be passing him, unless it was an emergency vehicle with it's flashing lights on, then of course they would be required to move over.

Stated a bit differently, why should someone that is driving the maximum legal speed in the left lane move over to the right lane, just to give way to the law breakers?

I still maintain that it should be legal to tap the bumpers of elderly people to help them along.

Big T, come on! Are you serious! I didnt mean for this to go this far.
And abc, i have reitterated many times not everyone in the fast lane is speeding or breaking a law. But why should one be allowed to "drive" in the "passing lane" is all I am saying?!?!?! This would apply even if no cars were on the interstate. You wouldnt drive in the "passing" lane even though you are going the speed limit. More than likely, you would remain in the right lanes. Correct? Or do you not have a 5 lane interstate in Lexington?!?! and thats why you are so confused?!?!?!

Not confused, not oblivious. The posted signs say "slower traffic keep to the right". There is no law that says you can only drive in the left lane of the interstate if you are passing.
Just as much as you think everyone should drive in the right lane unless they are passing, I believe it is everyone's right to drive in either lane if they are driving the maximum speed limit. Do you not understand english?!?!? Is that why YOU are confused ?!?!?

Do you not understand english?!?!? Is that why YOU are confused ?!?!? The real problem is that its fact when you leave the city limits area on the interstate the traffic opens up to people in the left lane who are speeding and everyone pretty much stays out of the left lane if they want to drive slower but its a different story when you hit the city limits--you need to slow down to the correct posted legal speed due to the congestion. All the lady is saying is if you are going to drive under the speed limit move over. Traffic needs to flow and someone going under the speed limit of 15 miles or more is dangerous and why they need to move over. People do get stopped and ticketed for driving too slow.
