Another column with the same retread stuff in it. Charley, get some new contacts and some new info, please! But it was nice to get your hate on D. Young back into the column. It has been what, 3 days since your last trade update on him.

What is with the Twin Cities media's love affair with Marc Trestman? Every year it seems they need to cover what they guys is doing in what ever remote city he is in; a city and job that has nothing to do with our interests here. His "abbreviated quarterback career" with the Gophers says it all. Like Sara Palin, make it go away; please!

First, if NJ would trade us Parise for Gaborik do it before they come to their senses! Second, Blake would be worth a three year contract, especially if you give the third year a buy-out clause. Third, we should trade Delmon Young to TB for Garza and Bartlett, oh wait ... that would be a TERRIBLE deal for teh Rays, what idiot would agree to that! And lastly, even with several Minnesota connections the CFL is just NOT that interesting.

The T-Wolves owner should trade Wittless & McFailure and take anybody in return.

Charley, to assume that Parise is up for grabs shows your lack of hockey knowledge. But, you have a tendency to do that with any hockey info you share.
Also, why didn't you have a Billy Mauer or Rick Rickert update for the Sunday special?

Where do all these constantly negative people come from? It really really gets old. Charley writes for a broad audience. Some are sports addicts and some aren't. All fans have their unique interests. Some columns will interest some readers one day and not the next. Get over yourselves and be a little realistic. The universe does not revlove around you getting the right information from Charley to give you a buzz. Some people are so self absorbed you can hardly believe it.

Last time I checked, it was a journalist's job to do some research for articles. All Charley does is throw out local names to garner interest. He averages 2-3 ridiculous comments and/or factually incorrect information a week! All I'm asking for is a competent writer.

I'm not going to criticize Charley because I honestly do not read his column.

But, I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. I do not remember a column like Charley's being printed in the Chicago Tribune or the Chicago Sun Times.

I've also noticed several TV news stations frequently feature Minnesota "homers" during their broadcasts--Almanac (TPT 2), KARE 11, KSTP 5, and WCCO 4. Fox 9 doesn't seem to do it as much as the others, but the rest of them will devote news time to a Minnesotan that has or is doing something, regardless of how big or small that something is. I don't remember seeing that done a whole lot growing up in Chicago either.

I hate casey blake.....he is an average third baseman, with average defensive skills (maybe worse) average contact, and slightly above average power....might as well stick with bucher if you are going to go that route.....the production would be similar (better average less homers)......

If we can get Parise, go for it.....also try to get Zajac from them as well....solid two way center.....kind of what we need. throw in skoula, they need some blue line help and skoula could give them another body

Gabby, and skoula for Parasie and Zajac....throw in a 2nd rounder if need be.....that is the trade we need.

Argonbeast...The whole point I'm trying to make is that to even suggest Parise is available is a joke. The only reason Charley wrote that is because Parise has local ties. Gaborik is damaged goods while Parise is an up and coming star with a much smaller contract than Gaborik. It's not going to happen!

Artie, I couldn't agree with you more. Charlie is a name dropper. Any person who once lived here or played here, would be a perfect fit as a solution to any problem we have in MN on any sports team. Then we have "readers" like Don and Eddie wearing rose colored glasses, thinking that everything the Chuckster writes is gospel. If they don't like the negative comments, don't read 'em. They tell us not to read this column, but my guess is the Pioneer Press wants to know what it's customers think of their writers. Just a guess though.

It's not the same Elvis. The real Elvis trashes Charley more than most.
