There was something that happened at Kohls that should have been in an article on it's own.
A man who tried to 'plow' down those of us who were waiting in the line (per instructed) in front of Kohls. We stretched from the doors straight out. A man in a beamer radically approached the cross walk where at least 50 early bird shoppers were standing - driver honking his horn. I guess he was trying to part the seas. A gentleman (shopper) politely motioned the driver to go around. The driver of the green beamer put his car in reverse, then basically plowed through the pedistrians (shoppers) driving on the wrong side - reving his engine thus causing people to literally jump out of his way.

The Kohls employee who was dropped of at the other doors exited the car, covering her face. This incident was reported to the Police as well as management WHO captured the entire episode on security cameras. One would think there was an angry MOB out front! Every one was well mannered, having a good time & mingling..... A wonderful friendly group of people = Kohls consumers.

The one thing that was foul, were those of us who arrived at 3AM & earlier, stood in line for an hour. During the last 15minutes - people began lining up at the other set of doors. Complete disapointed when Kolh's opened up those doors at the same time, rather than directing them to the END of the Line! Perhaps they should have waited for the line of "Early Birds" to enter before letting "late showers" in.

My thoughts are, that if you are too stupid to know there are 2 entrances and thus did not line up at the 2nd door, you were served right. Sounds like sour grapes that you didn't think of it first!!

Was Walmart trying to pull a fast one, by handing out tickets hours before the products were to be sold and then ticket holders were free to go home and get some sleep or shop elsewhere as long as they return and hand in their tickets to collect there item. "TOTALLY UNFAIR" Advertisement said sale starts at 5:00am and that means everything listed in the paper. Patient people had to wait beside the various skids that held the item that they wanted until 5:00 and that should have held true for the electronic department also.
We searched the paper thoroughly and never saw it printed that tickets were going to be handed out hours before the actual sale, can someone from Walmart enlighten us and let us know who was privied to this secret and why.
It is not that difficult to set up various lines in the Electronic department that has the product name posted and how many of that product are available. And it also would allow people to know if the store only has 20 of that item and they are the 26th person that they can get out of line and go after something else. I happen to love Black Friday when it is a fair game!
Nick C. is it your store that is sneaky or are they all your ideas?

Greed abounds. Hopefully, all those shoppers can pay off the credit cards before the 27% rates hit. Then they will be crying about something else. Anyone else notice the 200 plus Sheriff sale homes in the paper?

I agree--I've never did black friday shopping before and was shocked to hear they had all the tickets (to almost all the on sale items) already handed out by 3am when the sale started at 5am. We checked the paper/flyer/online ect and no where can it be found that "this is the way it's going to be done". First time black friday shopping--next year, I'll do it in my pajamas and slippers--online :)
I will say this--EVERY employee of Wal-mart and Bon-Ton that we saw/talked to were very very nice and very helpful and that was great!!

I agree that what Walmart did was very unfair. If the paper said 5am then it should have been 5am that they gave out the tickets. It was very unfair! Buddy your pretty stupid w/ your rude comment lets have a pity party. GROW UP you are ignorant!! Get a life and keep your stupid comments to your self!!!!

Maybe if morons in New York hadn't trampled a guy to death and fights hadn't broken out at other stores, Wal-Mart wouldn't do stuff like that.

If you're angry about how someone handles a sale at 3 or 5 a.m., you must not have much in life to worry about.

Yes, it's the annual buy your love fest. Sickening. I have a relative who spends thousands on her kids--each. And then whines all year that they're broke. Yup, buy off the guilt and buy their love. What a joke. Anyway, there will be better specials as time goes on in the season and folks don't learn that. My sister works in retail and she just laughed over Black Friday. She used to go in and open up but yesterday she went in and closed. Christmas isn't about laptops and video games and cashmere sweaters and I'm sick to death of the ads that started before Halloween and one radio station has been playing carols since around Halloween too. Greed.

if this is the reason why it was done (which it probably was) then it should have been advertised that way or there should have been some kind of public announcement.

I don't think people have a problem with the fact that tickets were handed out for the items ect. I think what people have a problem with is that it was not made known to the public that this is how it was going to be done. If they would have advertised or done a news report or whatever that this is how it was going to be done then fine--it was public knowledge but since it wasn't then it was still a crappy thing to do. If sale says 5am then it should be 5am not 1am or 3am.

From what I've been reading there seems to be a lot of people without a life that they have time to waste half a night standing in line. Seems if they have to do that they can't afford it in the first place. I have no problem pay full price for anything and can go whenever I want. And as for haha I will be at the party but I can pay if you want.

Has it diminished your quality of life? If the difference in the savings is that critical to your bottom line, you should be worried about more than Black Friday discounts.

I'll pass on some wisdom my parents taught me when I was about 6. Life isn't fair. If nobody died, count your blessings and quit your whining.

Actually is was announced - I read online several places that tickets would be handed out in the parking lot but they should have been handed out at 5 am like the sale said. I went for items and as i stood by the skid, others just walked up and took them and placed them in their carts. Other items were gone at 4:40 - no tickets, just gone already! It was very unorganized. My thought is, just order enough stinking product that rude people don't have to act so ignorant because if we haven't noticed by now, manners come far and few between.
