Wanted: Bold action

Can't our state legislators ever do anything bold? Dropping the ball on commuter-rail is huge enough, but really.

Politicians who are in office as a career and not to serve the public will be very unlikely to do anything bold. Being bold means taking the chance of alienating people who could make a difference in getting them re-elected or elected to another office.

Stop wishing for more laws. We have too many now, and most aren't being enforced. All more laws do is to move us one step closer to being a totalitarian police state. We started out with a couple of books of law on the desk and now the books of law fill the shelf. It accomplished nothing, except it built a new empire of courts, jails, police and lawyers who all profit and have their little empires. Crime hasn't ceased, accidents continue, and this insane drive to create more laws and give government more and more power builds daily. We are giving away our freedom and losing ourselves over to being robots controlled by some central computer like in the Matrix or a government like in "Solent Green"..
