More young people drive while texting. That is really bad because they do not have years of experience driving.
No one should be texting while driving period. Any one who says they can without impairing their driving is fooling themselves. I would go for retesting every several years. I see people every day, all day long who do not know what turn signals are, or tye do not know when to use them. People changing lanes in the middle of the intersection, People who do not know how to properly merge with another lane when their lane is ending...... So many idiots out there who can't drive. How do they get their licenses?? |

Nylah.. good luck with stopping phones completely in cars.. it simply will never happen. However I do agree with you about retaking your tests for driving .. there are a great deal of people out there that havent a clue whats going on while out on their sunday drives. Gives you a better understanding about how road rage starts.

I just hope you folks who are against texting while driving are not self-proclaimed "conservatives." Otherwise you're just hypocrites trying to increase government encroachment into the lives of good, hard-working Americans. So it's basically, "BAN TEXTING!!! Oh yeah, AND GAYS!!!!"
Sorry. In a yucky mood tonight! |

Okie Lobbyist I encourage you to read up on the statistics of Texting while driving, considering we are just now to an age where such disturbances are truly taking our eyes away from the road, causing an astounding amount of fatalities each year. Here are just some of those statistics..
Teen Driver Cell Phone and Text Messaging Statistics •Despite the risks, the majority of teen drivers ignore cell phone driving restrictions. •In 2007, driver distractions, such as using a cell phone or text messaging, contributed to nearly 1,000 crashes involving 16- and 17-year-old drivers. •Over 60 percent of American teens admit to risky driving, and nearly half of those that admit to risky driving also admit to text messaging behind the wheel. •Each year, 21% of fatal car crashes involving teenagers between the ages of 16 and 19 were the result of cell phone usage. This result has been expected to grow as much as 4% every year. •Almost 50% of all drivers between the ages of 18 and 24 are texting while driving. •Over one-third of all young drivers, ages 24 and under, are texting on the road. •Teens say that texting is their number one driver distraction. I encourage you to read more.. as this ban could be done if certain companies play along. |

Isn't careless driving already against the law? Why do we need an additional law against texting?

1 DMV Passes these youngsters they like the money. If they screw up it'll build more state and city revenue in fines and jail or prison revenues. It's a win win situation for law makers and enforcers. As far as traffic fatalities; the govt knows we ain't about to run out of people. So they keep winning. More laws more prisons HAHAHhah |
