I totally agree. I was driving down 169 this weekend and there was a lady going 45 because she was texting...totally oblivious to what was going on around her.

Because the people who make the laws are also texting. They are not going to outlaw something they do themselves.

I would like to see texting completely illegal with the consequences akin to those of impaired driving.

Not paying attention has nothing to do with age.

Just when you think the law makers could not be more stupid... they prove us wrong. LOL

AMEN sister!! Some peps have a hard enough time driving without distractions as it is. All cell usage while driving should be ban. Even talking hands free causes distraction that a lot of drivers
cannot adjust for. Makes me sick to see peps swerving like drunks while talking or texting while
driving...

I agree with the no cell use while driving. This includes anything to do with a cell phone. Most people "think" they can drive safely while texting or talking on a cell phone, not unlike a drunk thinking he/she can drive safely.

Some people shouldn't even be driving to begin with. I think we should be able to sue the cell phone company who sold the phone to the user. Hey it worked with the tobacco company's.

Good point, the cell phone producers know the danger of using them while driving yet they are allowed to keep selling them. They should be held responsible.

dumbest waste of money,. As if anyones gonna follow the rule, pretty impossible to enforce too. Noone will admit to it if the cop asks them.

There should be no age limit. It should carry a stiff penalty, too. Actually, they should outlaw TALKING while driving, just pull over. I have witnessed many traffic violations committed by talkers on cell phones, and nearly been hit!

Times have changed, laws need to keep up with the change!

I would like to see them make it illegal to sell a cell phone with the texting option in Oklahoma. If you can't talk to a person you don't need to be texting them.

How do they expect to monitor texting while driving? Why 18?

This seems a little ridiculous.

i think they need to make cell phones in general illeagal to use unless you have a blue tooth. that way your hands aree never held up or restricted to doing what they need to be able to do.

What is the obsession to continually blabb on cell phones nowadays? I was almost run off the road by a lady in a large SUV. I was so upset I followed her to the fed ex (kinkos at 41st & yale) She never stopped yapping on the phone. She had the darn thing glued to her head. She parked & proceeded to put a baby in a walker ( while juggling the baby & cell phone. I got out to tell her what she had done, just in time to save her baby's carriage from folling over as she drug it up the step ( while talking on the phone) I guess her priorities are for her self centered self.

While I agree that some cell phone users are a problem, how is it any different than the smoker (who is so into getting their nicotine fix that they forget to drive) any different. I personally want smoking while driving banned. Since first hearing about this proposal last week, I have had 6 incidents of smokers being completely stupid drivers. They cannot turn the signal on when turning, cannot turn the wheel with the cigarette in hand, gotta take that puff before commencing driving at the light, etc. It's ridiculous! This doesn't even begin to address the fact that I have to SMELL their stench!(It comes thru the vents!) It's ridiculous that I have to have allergy medicine with me just to counter their smoke. What gives them the right to pollute my air!? I have personally had three friends TOTAL their cars because of cigarettes. One was trying to retrieve a dropped cigarette.
As for cells being a hazard, they can be, especially with teens who don't have enough experience driving anyway. But I occassionally use my phone in the car and I do NOT create a hazard! I use mine when I KNOW that I can have a nice stretch of highway with no major obstacles and such.
What we need to remember and enforce is that when behind the wheel, safety and courtesy is top priority! Around Bartlesville, you get a ticket for parking 5 minutes too long or going 2 mph over the speed limit, but you NEVER see a cop pull over a driver going slow in the left lane, turn without using a signal, and all sorts of BAD driving! Those are statistically the ones who are the MOST DANGEROUS! They are rude and initentive but they are not stopped so they continue being a nuisance. Enforce bad driving PERIOD! If it's caused by a cell phone, then so be it, but if it's caused by a cigarette or just bad driving, that should be stopped too!

This law is unenforceable, and therefore, useless.

Daily Horoscope for December 5

Taurus

This is a day for turning your attention to your finances, especially if you're currently working on the budget for domestic improvements or changes. Talk to the other people concerned and really listen to what they're saying. They'll have some great insights. It will be far more productive to work as a harmonious team rather than as warring factions.
