Sorry about peoples' emails and stuff being so "available" to hackers; however, as far as being able to listen in on peoples' conversations - when they're in public most cell users talk SO loud anyhow, EVERYBODY can hear their conversations.

This type of technology isn't that new. The US Gov. spy agency have this technology. They are listening right now on what you send in emails and where you call. Mainly when you call overseas. They don't care they think they are above the Law just like Bush and his Admin.

None of this is new news, however it will be to many.
As a communications specialest, I can tell you that since the early days of cell phones, hacking has happened alot. Its not in the Phone companies interest to provide a service for free that would protect you from such events. So if you demand that your cell company do something about it, be prepared to also pay for it.
The other interesting part is how many of you cell phone users forget you are using a two way radio, very much like that of a CB radio, only a bit more secure, and complex, but none the less you use radio waves. If you dont want your conversation listened to dont talk on the phone. If you are so paranoid about your conversations being heard maybe you should use a wired Landline,(something with a cord that goes to a phone jack in the house, not a cordless phone) as for your GPS, and other features you may have on your phone, well you may have brought some of the headaches to yourself. Why do you need to have so many "Features" on a phone? When did we need to have email/internet access, games, music, and many other similar items in the palms of our hands? I have a basic phone, no extras, cause when I need to make a phone call I know my battery is still charged, cause I wasnt rocking out to "Comfortably Numb", or what ever else you wish to listen to for hours on end. Get back to basics, or quit bitching! oh by the way, any one with an older police scanner is capable of listening in to your cell phone, hell even a new scanner will with some modifications, lot cheaper then the software also.
Another thing, you all crack me up, over the years there has been controversy over wether a cell phone can increase your risk of cancer, but none of you seem to be too worried about that, but sure are hell bent on someone listening to your conversation, hell quit shouting about you not getting laid last night while out to dinner, I dont want to hear about your issues. If you wish to have aprivate phone call dont be in public when on the phone.

Cell Phone Users Beware? Just title it EVERYONE BEWARE!

People have been doing this since cordless phones first came out. A good scanner with 900MHz range and you can listen to cell phones, cordless phones, exc. All you have to do is listen to some schmuck order pizza and you got all the credit card info you need #, date, and three digits on the back.. Although I would never do something like that!!!!

P.S. You will need to order the scanner out of country. Last time I chacked 900MHz scanner were banned in the USA!!! Happy Phoning!!!

Seriously, we brought this upon ourselves. My wife and I use cells instead of the land-line phones because we don't see the point in having both. But I don't give out personal info over my phone and I don't yap behind the wheel or out loud like some of these idiots do.

You all want the cell phone companies to fix this? Please, that will be an extra charge.

Parts of this makes me laugh. Because I have had many strange conversations pop into my cordless phone and even my cell. Suddenly I was hearing about who was getting laid, who was not getting any, etc. So I always knew if I could hear them, then they can hear me. But my fave was discovering that my Ex had installed spyware on my computer and suspected cell so best friend and I cooked up a pre-made conversation using work phones and made the famous call to each other on my cell. LMAO the things we said to each other, about him, about my plans for the night, etc. ha ha. Ex could not resist coming home ON TIME that night and the things he said -- only proved he indeed managed to do this. No one believed me except my best friend. Now finally there is proof; it does exist and fairly easy to get.
