For sure, and it's possible cell phones might cause injury too.For years, the airlines allowed innocent people to be injured and killed by exposure to toxic tobacco smoke from the few who freebased the tobacco drug. Finally, about 20 years ago, that insanity was stopped. While cell phones most likely won't injure or kill any innocent people, their use should not be allowed on any public transportation.

1 Go get an AM radio and set it by your computer. If you hear static Good. Youy computer is working. And giving off radio frequencies. This is another reason for no cell use aircraft. Engineers have now determined that the guidance systems on the planes will not be messed up by the spurious RF from your cell phone and computers. Here is the real kicker though. If you hear beeps mixed up in the static sounds and noises coming through the radio like.------Beep-----Beep-----B eep-----Beep Beep. You have probably drawn some attention to yourself by the inteligence comunity and they are honing in on you with a satellite through your commputer. They have bugged it and made a beacon out of it. If it is the regular intelegence guys and you are not a bad actor you are probably safe. If it the deep cover guys. The ones with no identity that can be traced your screwed. |

What did people do with their lives 25 years ago when cell phones did not exist? |

I have a friend who answers her phone anywhere.(at dinner etc.) She is loud and obnoxious. She has to talk to her husband constantly and it drive me crazy. One time I was in the grocery store and I herd her from across the store! I went the other direction so she wouldn't see me. Her husband is just as bad. We were at dinner ( a nice place) and he was constantly TMing his daughter who they just left. They were calling each other names (playfully) and he was happy to relate every word to us. My husband and I were rolling our eyes and ignored this childish behavior. Boy, how do you tell them to knock it off?
I have a cell phone but I do not have long winded conversations in public. It's rude. Cell phone users do not realize how awful they can be. Maybe they should just have a couple of seats for cell phones in the back of the plane. That way they will not disturb others. |

So how did people like that survive before cell phones? The technology isn't that old. |

Bad idea I don't want to sit near anyone to someone who wants talk the entire flight.
No one really knows the effects they could have on the aircraft systems. I like to arrive in one piece. Holster the phone people, make you calls on the ground. |

Good post, well said. |

At least I wear a hearing aid so I can turn them off if the chatter is TOO LOUD.
But wait, how will I hear the flight attendent annoucement should a problem arise in-flight. Never mind the EU being considerate of all passengers, give in to the whining passengers whom can't be without their cell phones for several hours. |

OK if the fee is steep. $5 per minute could be a little light. Maybe then airlines will not charge $50 for a bag 4lbs overweight. I am dreaming again.

I heard cell phones are being used to voice map everyone in the world and store the informations with your fingerprints and other sensitive information. It will then be used agianst you some time when you get out of control, or someone in power wants to control you, or just wants to ruin your life as you know it now. They have the technology. I rarely talk about anything except the weather and inocuous stuff like that on any phone. Covering your head in tin foil does not work if you are a blabber mouth on the phone!

Way in the back, with a door to shut off the noise. I really hope this doesn't happen in the US, but I fear it will. I would feel sorry for the flight attendants in that section. |

Actually, the FCC controls all frequencies used within the United States and its territories. They also control the communications equipment on all aircraft (along with the FAA) going in and out of the United States and its territories.

What redeeming qualities does this friend of yours have that makes you want to continue to be her friend, especially when you have to hide from her in public. |
that's so true! |

Midnite Airlines allows cell phones anywhere in the world.
