What I find most interesting about this story is that people are being texted this scam. How are the scammers getting the cell phone numbers of people?
It seems to me that THAT is what should really be investigated.

The scam comes from Guatemala and not Mexico anyway. You seem to be the one that is a prejudice here. Check your facts before you most stuff.

I agree with Sarah D. I would love to know how these scammers are accessing these cell numbers! I just received the same scammed text 6 times in a 10 minute period. I am not an illegal alien, have no ties to Guatemala, and I am not of Hispanic decent...I only speak a little Spanish (thanks to 101.) But one thing is for sure... who ever is sending this text really needs a Spanish spell check! I hope they are caught soon, before any more gullible people are taken for money they can't afford to lose!
